Taylor Swift Returns to the Top of the Billboard Charts, Beating Susan Boyle and Michael Jackson

Taylor Swift's Speak Now Tops the Charts

Country starlet Taylor Swift's blockbuster album 'Speak Now' returns to the top of the Billboard 200 chart this week. This is the third time it has topped the chart since November 10, when it debuted at No. 1 and became the only album of 2010 to sell more than a million copies during its first week of release.

Swift's 'Speak Now' takes the gold from Susan Boyle's 'The Gift,' which falls to No. 2. Surprisingly, Michael Jackson's controversial but hugely-anticipated posthumous album 'Michael' will make its chart debut in third place in the U.S., although -- not surprisingly -- it is the number-one-selling album in the world for the week.

'Speak Now' has been well-received by critics, and even scored some notable raves. Of the album, the New York Times remarked, "If this is what this preternaturally wise teen star turned 21st-century multimedia celebrity is developing into, bring it on ... In these new songs relationships are no longer fantasies, or neutered; they're lived-in places, where bodies share space." The paper also deemed various tracks "scorching" ('Dear John'), "scolding" ('Innocent') and an "unplugged slap in the face of doubters" ('Mean'). Read more from AOL Music.

She's definitely not my cup of tea, however it's not surprising that she is on top right now seeing as mediocracy and/or less than rules pop music & it's fans tastes nowadays. She along with all the other PopTarts wouldn't have even gotten a record deal if standards were still as they were back in the day (B4 the 90's). Also MJ's album was released on Dec 14th.

She doesn't have to outsing her. Every single pop star can be outsung by like opera singers. Taylor has songs that more people can relate to. Plus she has something in her way of singing that people like. Most of the big hits aren't by the greatest singers.

I don't mean to be snide at all, but...she can't really sing :(. I've heard her live and she's not that good. I'm not jealous at all but it kind of irrates me to see someone get paid millions of dollars for something they suck at. No offense. :(

Taylor Swift only beat Michael and Susan cause the majority of people buying music these days are teens/tweens/etc. What the article fails to mention is the fact that Michael and Susan's albums severly beat Taylor's in the World Sales.And Also TAYLOR IS A COOL LYRICIST...BUT SHE CAN'T SING...JUST KEEPING IT 100!

Taylor is the best songwriter of her generation, period. She's the youngest person ever honored by the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and has been number one in 14 countries before leaving her teens with her own songs. Carrie Underwood, Susan Boyle, etc. can sing great, but THEY DON'T WRITE THEIR SONGS! I suppose a lumpen proletariat that simply consumes and doesn't honor creativity somehow doesn't get the difference or something. She speaks the hearts and minds of millions of girls and young women, and you REALLY ought to listen to Mean. Can't wait until it's a single so you do.
