LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian Engaged

After a tumultuous two years making headlines in the tabloids, LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are officially getting married.

"Yes, they were engaged over the holidays and are very happy," her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively. The couple spent the Christmas holiday at home in Los Angeles and a source tells PEOPLE, they "had family and close friends in town who helped them celebrate."

Rimes also shared her happiness on Twitter Monday afternoon: "Thank you for all your well wishes!! We are extremely excited and look forward to a beautiful future. It's been an incredible last few days, I was shocked!!! We are blessed, our families are so happy and our lives are filled with love," she Tweeted.

Rimes and Cibrian were spotted Monday on the beach in Malibu--and the country singer was sporting a new engagement ring. A source close to the couple tells PEOPLE that the platinum ring features a 5-carat oval diamond set in rose gold fleur-de-lis connected to the band.

According to that same source, the couple designed the ring with Cibrian's childhood friend, Brent Polacheck of Polacheck Jewelers. "The couple wanted an antique feel, but a new ring," the source revealed.

Rimes and Cibrian met and began a relationship while filming the Lifetime movie, 'Northern Lights' in 2008. Both were married at the time but have since divorced their spouses to be together. Rimes has since been very open about the difficulty of ending her first marriage to Dean Sheremet after news of her relationship with Cibrian made headlines.

"I take responsibility for everything I've done," she told PEOPLE earlier this year. "I hate that people got hurt. But I don't regret the outcome."

When the couple marries, Rimes will become stepmom to Cibrian's two children from his previous marriage to Brandi Glanville: Mason, 7, and Jake, 3.

She was "shocked!!!" as she says, but she helped design the ring? Yeah, right. And I agree, she probably bought the ring because he was axed from CSI:Miami. They deserve each other. I just hope his kids don't suffer.

They are not the first to cheat and they won't be the last. Remember there are always three sides to every story. His, Hers and the truth. Good Luck to them both. Hopefully, this one will last.

This won't be a marriage blessed by God at all. This kind of reminds me of Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling. They broke up their families to be with each other and they are so "happy". Tori has made it known many times over that she is scared Dean will cheat on her with a co-star. Well honey, that's what happens when you mess around with a married man.

Leann will spend the rest of her marriage to Eddie wondering if he's cheating. That is not what a marriage is supposed to be. What that marriage will be is cursed.

Why is the woman always the one to blame? What about the men involved? I'm sure LeAnn didn't hold a gun to Eddie's head, neither did Elizabeth Taylor to Eddie Fisher, or Angelina to Brad. It takes two to tango. Both parties are involved. And if these men truly loved their wives, no other woman could break up their marriage.

It's not about love....it's pure selfishness with absolutely no regard for what their actions can and WILL do to the spouse or the children, if any, involved. These kinds of people ONLY care about themselves and what they THINK they want. These relationships will NEVER be blessed and will always hold a stigma. Sad and pathetic.
