LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian Engaged

After a tumultuous two years making headlines in the tabloids, LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are officially getting married.

"Yes, they were engaged over the holidays and are very happy," her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively. The couple spent the Christmas holiday at home in Los Angeles and a source tells PEOPLE, they "had family and close friends in town who helped them celebrate."

Rimes also shared her happiness on Twitter Monday afternoon: "Thank you for all your well wishes!! We are extremely excited and look forward to a beautiful future. It's been an incredible last few days, I was shocked!!! We are blessed, our families are so happy and our lives are filled with love," she Tweeted.

Rimes and Cibrian were spotted Monday on the beach in Malibu--and the country singer was sporting a new engagement ring. A source close to the couple tells PEOPLE that the platinum ring features a 5-carat oval diamond set in rose gold fleur-de-lis connected to the band.

According to that same source, the couple designed the ring with Cibrian's childhood friend, Brent Polacheck of Polacheck Jewelers. "The couple wanted an antique feel, but a new ring," the source revealed.

Rimes and Cibrian met and began a relationship while filming the Lifetime movie, 'Northern Lights' in 2008. Both were married at the time but have since divorced their spouses to be together. Rimes has since been very open about the difficulty of ending her first marriage to Dean Sheremet after news of her relationship with Cibrian made headlines.

"I take responsibility for everything I've done," she told PEOPLE earlier this year. "I hate that people got hurt. But I don't regret the outcome."

When the couple marries, Rimes will become stepmom to Cibrian's two children from his previous marriage to Brandi Glanville: Mason, 7, and Jake, 3.

Her ex husband is already engaged again so I think some people are more upset than the actual people involved in this. Good for them though for getting married. I still love her music :)

I blame both equally. I think the way they are flaunting it is cruel. There is a such thing as karma. One or both will cheat and in the end the precious children will know what a tramp their stepmom is and a cheat their father is! Selfishness will not be rewarded.

Thats just it, it takes two to tangle, therefore so they both were wrong. I can't call LeAnn a homewrecker, because Eddie willing got involved with her. So considering he's proposed to her...this turns out to be the woman he wants to be with(atleast for now, lol).

With all of the cheating that goes on in the world of "entertainment" it amazes me that Leanne causes so much backlash (personally, I'm more offended that the Kardashian sisters can net over 8 million a year collectively solely as a result of one of the sister's porn gigs, but go figure.) I hope they are both happy. If you are on this site, you follow all kinds of celebrity "news" - and the majority have their philandering ways. Stop making Leanne to be the martyred patron saint of cheating. She's not the first, and won't be the last. Get over it. I wish them both all the best.

They both cheated while married to other people.
Only time will tell, which one of these two, will be the first one to cheat on the other.
Its only a matter of time. I can only hope no children will be involved.

Although, I was a bit surprised to see that Eddie proposed to LeAnn this soon, but I still can't blame one over the other. I don't know what their personal lives with their exs were like, but I didn't agree with the way they handled their cheating...then Eddie trying to lie about it. I've been a big Eddie fan for years, but I must say this took him down a notch for me. Anyway, once they realized they were experiencing a strong attraction for one another, they should've held back from being "too close" before breaking things off with their spouses. Although hurt, I'm sure their spouses would've appreciated being told the truth before they actually started an outright affair. I don't know, but these relationships aren't always the best, because the insecurities kick in based on how easily the hooked up, who's to say the same thing won't happen all over again within their union. SMH!
