Sir Elton John and Husband David Furnish Welcome Baby Boy

Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish have become the proud parents to a baby boy named Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John.

Zachary was born weighing 7 lbs., 15 oz. via a surrogate mother in California on Christmas Day. This is the first child for John, 62, and Furnish, 48. The couple married in 2005 after being together for 12 years.

In a joint statement to Us Magazine, the couple said: "We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment. Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents."

A rep for the couple has stated that John and Furnish intend to protect and respect the privacy of the surrogate and will not be discussing any details relating to the surrogacy arrangements made.

According to the Daily Mail, the couple had first attempted to adopt an HIV-positive child from the Ukraine last year. The adoption, however, was rejected on the grounds of John's age and the fact that the country does not recognize civil marriages. John then made a commitment to support the boy financially.

I see that there are a lot of straight people with distorted views and values. Prejudice and bigotry is alive and well and has certainly been expressed here. Parental love is timeless and absolute no matter what the sexual orientation of the child. Some of you could learn a good lesson from that.

###Reply### Why does that only apply in this article but when a real mother and real father works, the mom is the one who has to lose a day of work. Yes, fathers should take care of the sick child and let mom go to her meetings and other tasks that allows her to bring payments as her share of the living expenses.

Meanwhile, I love EJ's music. That fortunate child will be able to grow up listening to all the EJ music he wants.

Nope, you are wrong about that. As a teacher for over 23 years, I have had many students with same-sex parents. Every single one of those students grew up in a loving home and none of them had any difficulties with gender identity or sexual orientation. NOT ONE.

John and Furnish have been together longer than most hetero marriages last. Too many people try to hide their latent tendencies by lashing out with hate. They are afraid of the impulses they see in themselves and so they jump on the hate bandwagon in order to hide.

What a horribly twisted and perverted world we live in when this type of thing is allowed. I hope the child gets taken away from them before they cause damage to the poor innocent thing.. This sickens me so much, its just so very wrong...elton is pathetic and besides it being wrong because he is gay its wrong because he is so damned OLD... my prayers are with this little baby, he will need them... his life will be ruined... God help him...
