Sir Elton John and Husband David Furnish Welcome Baby Boy

Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish have become the proud parents to a baby boy named Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John.

Zachary was born weighing 7 lbs., 15 oz. via a surrogate mother in California on Christmas Day. This is the first child for John, 62, and Furnish, 48. The couple married in 2005 after being together for 12 years.

In a joint statement to Us Magazine, the couple said: "We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment. Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents."

A rep for the couple has stated that John and Furnish intend to protect and respect the privacy of the surrogate and will not be discussing any details relating to the surrogacy arrangements made.

According to the Daily Mail, the couple had first attempted to adopt an HIV-positive child from the Ukraine last year. The adoption, however, was rejected on the grounds of John's age and the fact that the country does not recognize civil marriages. John then made a commitment to support the boy financially.

Years ago movie stars and singers kept their sexual preferences quiet. Today all you read about is that they are getting married and are either having children by surrogate or adopting. This is one crazy sick world that we live in.

The kid will be fine. Loving parents who want a child to love. A kid who will go to bed at night knowing he is loved. All needs met. No need to worry if your going to have anything to eat. Or go to school looking like a rag doll. A nice home and loving parents. I am happy for this child. I wish all kids could have the same. The other child mentioned in the artical will be taken care of thanks to Elton John. Wonderful!!!

You know considering over 160 kids died last year at the hands of their STRAIGHT parents you'd think people on this forum would have a little more sense. You're so right Kit9 their relationship has lasted longer than most hetrosexual marriages these days. Elton John is a wonderful, kind, caring man and I have no doubt that this child will be raised surrounded by love. I just saw him in concert and he has the same amount of energy he had when I saw him 30 years ago, looks like he's going to be around for a while. And those of you that are worried about the childs safety remember this, 99% of pedophiles are straight white men. Congratulations Elton and David!!!!!!!

Well, good for them. This kid will be set for life as far as finances goes but on the other hand it's kind of sad that he won't be raised by his real mother.

Best wishes to the new parents. For those of you who obviously are under 30, Elton may possibly live to be a very healthy 90 year old father.
And by the way, I don't know about you, but my husband and I have never brought our bedroom behaviour into the living room in front of our kids, so I wonder how you think the fact that these men are gay will have any type of sexual impact on their child?
How about finding a little kindness in your hearts, people?
