Sir Elton John and Husband David Furnish Welcome Baby Boy
Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish have become the proud parents to a baby boy named Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John.
Zachary was born weighing 7 lbs., 15 oz. via a surrogate mother in California on Christmas Day. This is the first child for John, 62, and Furnish, 48. The couple married in 2005 after being together for 12 years.
In a joint statement to
Us Magazine, the couple said: "We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment. Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents."
A rep for the couple has stated that John and Furnish intend to protect and respect the privacy of the surrogate and will not be discussing any details relating to the surrogacy arrangements made.
According to the
Daily Mail, the couple had first attempted to adopt an HIV-positive child from the Ukraine last year. The adoption, however, was rejected on the grounds of John's age and the fact that the country does not recognize civil marriages. John then made a commitment to support the boy financially.

Amanda you should have said "couldn't have ...." Of does not belong in the sentence. I hope you do not have plans to be an English teacher.
When the child gets older and can say, "this is my dad and this is my mom"

First: Why do we persist in using a British honors title for stars that were Knighted? We don't do the same if they are given a similar honor, like Malaysia's "Dato". It must sound reall cool to the writers tongue.
Next: Was the pet shop out of puppies? Elton John is a great talent but, for two middle age gay guys to decide it would be neat to have a baby to lug around............

Gee, is that how you raised your kids? By lugging them around. Better to be raised by thoughtful, loving parents than by a neanderthal.
It will be so sweet when the cute little toddler runs in the bedroom and jumps in bed with 2 men. What a kodak moment! Then Elton can share all his hedonistic stories and dress the child up in a duck suit!

Kodak moments ended as of sunday 12-27-2010.

I have always been a major Elton John fan. My family used to pick on me way back in the 70s after Elton John told Rolling Stone magazine in an interview that "he may be bisexual". Immediately the public read it as "gay",his record sales dropped and I was persecuted for liking his music. I still like his music, however, never cared for the fact that he was in fact gay afterall. I hated it when he came out, because it has been a bit flamboyant at times,I hated it when he married David Furnish because I do not agree with gay marriage, and most of all,I am against gay couples raising children because I believe it will mentally affect them and cause sexual confusion and awkwardness. Elton I still love the music, but you need to have your head checked, you most likely wont even see this kid graduate High School,so whats the point?

CONGRATS!!! I think this is wonderful. I wish them much luck and happiness forever. They all deserve the best.

Gay couples are better parents than too many straight couples out there with kids. Congratulations Elton and David.
No, I'm not gay, but I have seen enough abused children with straight couples and I have seen the love that gay couples shower on their children. Their kids grow up very functional in a loving, open-minded environment, more so than kids in a small-minded, ignorant environment.
Where there is love, there is God, people.

jane how utterly wrong you are, wake up, its you thats the problem, enabling this sick lifestyle is wrong,,, and bringing children up in this lifestyle is child abuse... and perversion... disgusting..
this world is so wrong..God help this little innocent baby.. what horrible role models, the ultimate form of abuse here
Jane, learn your Bible. Jesus is love. He does not merely love. God also is angry with the wicked everyday -- the Bible clearly states that. God also is a Lord of wrath and judgment. People love to conveniently forget that part when trying to justify their way of thinking or living. Lean not to your own understanding, is what the scripture says. We cannot live any way we want to or accept everyting because it is politically correct or changing times. We certainly can't accept it just because celebrities do it. If we could live a raggedy lifestyle and everything be beautiful and great, why would Jesus have had to die for our sins?
It is disgusting and another nail in the coffin of the "alleged" human race. Our extinction keeps creeping closer.

These two will have all kinds of domestic help raising that child. It won't be any different for them than having a pet. They'll get to play with him and go for walks and take him fun places but it will be someone else doing the real dirty work parenting. No 62 year old guy is going to get up five times a night with a crying baby. Or clean up a crib that's been puked in. Or do three loads of laundry a day. This is a joke. Plain and simple.. it's a joke.

Motherhood involves a nanny a housekeeper and other household help. Women have choices and so do men and children grow up loved and adored and revered in this environment.
Bawhahahahaha.

Congratulations to the John family! What a joy and day of LOVE this world should know more about. No wonder so much success for this beautiful family! I think it will be an honor to have Elton John for this little one's father. What will his name be? Blessings of health, love and happiness to the family and the new little bundle of joy! :)
