'902910' Star Shenae Grimes Denies Relationship With John Mayer

Shenae Grimes is a rising star in Hollywood, but there's one important distinction that separates her from many of her actress peers: She is not currently dating, nor has she ever dated John Mayer.

While a recent report in Star claims that the pair are romantically linked, Grimes rather bluntly denied the allegations via Twitter.

"According to Star magazine John Mayer and I are in secret sexy cahoots. How wonderful for me," she wrote. "If wonderful meant embarrassing."

Mayer's rep circuitously addressed the allegations, saying only that "Star magazine is not a credible source."

This isn't the first time the magazine has received flak for inaccurately reporting details of the singer's love life.

In November, Star claimed that Mayer was involved with married Food Network host Giada de Laurentiis, a report dismissed as "absolutely ridiculous" by Mayer's rep.

Giada confirmed that the story was fabricated, saying of Mayer, "I've met him and he's a great guy, but I just like his music. That's all."

That's a great way to increase your visibility in Hollywood. Have your publicist leak a false rumor to a magazine that you are dating someone famous. Then vehemently deny it.
