John Mellencamp Dating Meg Ryan Following Separation Announcement

Only five days after announcing his separation from wife Elaine, John Mellencamp seems to be happily rebounding with actress Meg Ryan. The 'Pink Houses' rocker, 59, and the 41-year-old model announced their split in a joint statement last Friday, saying they were "proud of their 20 years together."

In the brief period since the announcement was made, Mellencamp has been seen with Ryan on Martha's Vineyard, where the pair were caught canoodling over coffee at Ryan's go-to spot, Espresso Love, and in New York City.

The pair were also recently spotted together at Manhattan's Gourmet Garage, where an eye-witness tells PEOPLE, "She usually comes in by herself or with her daughter. I thought that was her husband because they seemed for comfortable and familiar with each other, just like an old married couple."

The 49-year-old actress, who divorced Dennis Quaid in 2001, alleging infidelity, has two children -- a son, Jack, with her ex-husband and a daughter, Daisy, who she adopted following her divorce.

The 'Jack and Diane' rocker has a brood of his own, including sons Hud and Speck with Elaine and three daughters from his two previous marriages.

Popeater: You need to proofread and/or fact-check your articles. The PICTURE you have posted goes with *49* year-old ACTRESS Meg Ryan. I don't know if there is a 41 year-old MODEL with the same name (but that's not her in the picture).

The 41 year old model is Elaine, the ex, there is no picture of her. The article is, however, very poorly written. I had to read it twice to figure out who the 41 year old model was...

Hey Eric...please re-read the article! It is not supposed to be a picture of Elaine..who IS 41 yrs old! It is a picture of John and Meg! Meaning they are hanging out together! You should stick to trying to read better than telling someone how to do their job!

I recently saw John Mellencamp on The Tonight Show and was shocked. I thought..."that old man looks familiar." I was so surprised to find out it was him. I'm a year older than John, and I thought he looked old.
