Katie Holmes on Jackie O and Taking Fashion Advice From Suri
Katie Holmes' career may occasionally be overshadowed by the over-the-top antics of her husband,
Tom Cruise, but in the
latest issue of Elle, the actress and mother reminds fans why she's a star in her own right. Holmes, whose relationship with Cruise began just two years after she moved on from her early fame as Joey Potter on 'Dawson's Creek,' tells the magazine that, despite reports to the contrary, their relationship is not only supportive but surprisingly normal.
While researching her role as Jackie O in the upcoming TV miniseries 'The Kennedys,' Holmes says that Cruise spent hours studying footage of the Kennedy family with her to help her embody the iconic first lady. "[Tom] watched everything with me," she says. "He found it fascinating." The actress admits that, despite her excitement to tackle such a challenging role, she was keenly aware of just how difficult it would be. "I worked as hard as I could, because I loved her. On set there was this feeling that we had to create something very special, because these people were very special."
Although Holmes' life and career have been the subject of media scrutiny for over a decade, the actress won't let the pressure of Hollywood get to her. Even the constant presence of paparazzi in her life doesn't concern the seemingly unflappable star. "I don't worry so much. It is what it is, and it's fine. I'll go somewhere because I need to get something done."
What Holmes does consider worthy of her attention is her adorable daughter Suri, who has become both a fashion plate and tabloid staple in the four short years since her birth.
Holmes says that the precocious tot will often provide her with brutally honest critiques of the actress's style. "She'll really tell me [what she thinks]," she says. "Like today I'm wearing brown suede pants, and she said, 'I don't like your pants.' But then she'll say, 'You've got to wear these shoes.' Or 'That's so pretty, Mom. Wear that.' She's got a great eye."
The critiques of the small sartorialist are just one of the many wonders of motherhood to Holmes, who says that her daughter's eye for fashion sometimes surpasses her own.
"The other day we came out of a store, and she said, 'I want to go there,' pointing at another store quite a distance away. In that store was the dress that she wanted. I said, 'Wow, Suri. You're something. You picked that out from a football field away.'"
While maternal instincts and a successful career may be a difficult balance for some, Holmes says that her dedication to her family often informs her most successful roles. It was this same passion for parenthood, shared by Jackie O, that prepared Holmes to play the beloved Kennedy matriarch. "She had so much strength," says Holmes. "I loved her love of family, how important it was for her to be a good mother."

I'm pretty sure that if you take fashion advice from a 4 year-old you are going to look like you dressed for the Ringling Brothers center ring. And that is not a pretty look for anyone. Not even someone who lives with a brainless baboon like the idiot Cruise.

Uh Katie's not a home wrecker by any streatch of the imagination she's just a talentless actress that's all and few people will ever be as gorgeous as Jacqueline Lee Bouvies Kennedy Onasis was. there's a few young actresses though that would've been a better fit for her during the white house years and those directly following Amy Adams for one and for Jackie's later years until her tragic death Melissa Newman would've fit nicely granted her parents had probably voted for JFK in 1960 via Absentee ballot as they were away in france Filming the movie Paris Blues their 4th together and the one on which she had been conceived and they missed the premiere because she was born that day September 27th 1961. as for taking fashion advice from a child Katie is an idiot for that

I believe she gets her fashion advice from her child. Half the time she looks as though she has just rolled out of bed. I cringe when I hear statements about how a small child has fashion sense. I love my child dearly; however, she is four years old and I let her be a four year old.

Holmes gets creepier and creepier. Her real family needs to do an intervention and rescue her from Tommy Insane and his cult, if it's not already too late. In her recent interviews, she seems to be empty, fake and robotic. The brainwashing is truly working.

Someone please tell Katie Holmes that its OK to smile. Since her marriage to Tom she smurks (a smile with no teeth showing). This technique is usually done by older women as to not show laugh lines or crow feet, however I thinks its Katie way of appearing more mature...... whatever the case she looks stupid and un-sexy. Someone please get the message to her, that her natural happy smile was sexy (Show some teeth)
