Michelle Williams' interview with ABC's 'Nightline' was billed as her breaking her silence on her march back from the tragedy of Heath Ledger's death, but she's not happy with what the public saw. In a chat with The Daily Beast, Williams expressed frustration with the final interview, saying the way it was cut together made it seem like she was crossing a line she never intended to cross.
"I want everybody to like me. I want everybody to be happy. I want to please people. So that desire in the moment overrode that 'me' that is on top of myself, that 'me' that is on top of a situation," Williams said in the Daily Beast interview. "Then they used those few quotes and the way they edited the piece to sell the interview, and it appeared as if I were breaking some kind of silence and sitting down with the express purpose to discuss something that is very private to me."
In the interview that aired, Williams appeared to really open up about her life without Ledger, saying she misses the surreal feeling of him being gone and how that feeling is disappearing now.
"In a strange way, I miss that year, because all those possibilities that existed then are gone," she said in the 'Nightline' interview. "It didn't seem unlikely to me that he could walk through a door or could appear behind a bush. It was a year of very magical thinking, and in some ways I'm sad to be moving further and further away from it."
It was her fears of how the media would edit and contextualize her heartbreak that made her so afraid to talk about it in the first place, she told The Daily Beast.
"So then I withdraw and I say, 'OK, this subject is off limits if it is going to be convoluted and re-contextualized. I will close myself off as a torn paper might seal up its side or a streak of water stitch itself to silk,'" WIlliams told The Daily Beast's Kevin Sessums. "But then I sit down with you and feel compelled to talk about it. So it is a struggle."
I love Michelle Williams.... she is a talented talented actress.... but do yourselves a favor and skip her new movie "Blue Valentine".... one of the worst movies I've seen. Please stick to being in movies that make you act instead of crazy sex.... it really cheapen my sweet Michelle.
how bout this....get your mug off nightline and nobody will piece together or twist your words. Another hollywood nut case seeking out the spotlight! Next!
Really! The man's been dead for 2 years. It's time for her to shut the f up and move on. Let the guy rest in peace, and stop milking his memory for all it's worth. It's getting a little tiresome.
It's sad that any show would stoop to that level for ratings but that is par for the course in today's culture. She's such a beautiful person and a tremendous talent. The interview she did on 'Live with Regis and Kelly' was excellent and shows what a fantastic and humble person she really is. Shame on 'Nightline.'

Creative people are not from another planet. They just have some traces of dna from someone who was. :)
