Power to the People: How Many Ways Can Johnny Depp Thank the Fans?

Johnny Depp People's Choice Acceptance Speeches

The People's Choice Awards have been good to Johnny Depp. The versatile actor has taken home five awards for Favorite Male Movie Star in 2011, 2010, 2008, 2007, 2006 and 2005, as well as the title of Favorite Male Actor of the Decade in 2010. That's a lot of love thrown at Depp and a big challenge to shake up his acceptance speeches year after year. So just how does he thank the same base of supporters over and over again?

From watching multiple speeches, some included below, a few running themes become obvious. Depp is very humbled. He knows who are the real bosses keeping him employed. And he seems to be ever more stunned to win year after year.

2011: "Yet again a stupefying honor because it comes from the people who keep us all here. If it wasn't for you, none of us would be here."

2010: "I'm deeply humbled by this great honor which comes from you, the people, which means everything to me ... to us all. Because the only reason that any of us are up here is because of you."

2007: "I've said this before but the fact that these awards come from the people makes them all the more special. Thank you. I'm surely humbled by this ... and thanks for keeping me employed. You're the boss."

2006: "I'm very touched and honored. It's a great privilege to receive this honor from the people. We're all very lucky to have such great bosses which is you."

I love that man! He is a very talented actor and have enjoyed his acting since the very first Nightmare On Elm Street, not to mention 21 Jump Street! Benny and Joon, Gilbert Grape, Sleepy Hollow, Secret Window, all of the Pirate movies, and the list goes on! Keep up the wonderful work and thank you for the enjoyable movies that we have been blessed with over the years!

He is one of the greatest actors. Right up there with Eric Roberts. His only problems that has alienated him is his politics and being in bed with Chavez. He doesnt respect our country or appreciate it.

He doesn't live in our country, so he has every right to look at it from a third party perspective and judge it as he sees fit.

...and even living here doesn't mean that you respect what the government has done or might be doing at any given moment.

He needs to study up on the characters he admires like Chavez, Guevara and Castro, the way he does for his acting ability. Having millions in the bank doesn't make one intelligent.

I am so glad that he is capable of independent thought. What sense does it make to have all these liberties and only repeat what another person may say? If you feel the way you feel, good for you. Maybe,just maybe, this is a reason he does not live in the U.S.

I totally agree...what's up w/your heroes JD? I don't get it. However I reespect the right to like/not like whomever, but still don't get why he chooses such jack-wipes like chavez or castro. Other than that, I love his work, and he's at the top of his game for sure! Go Depp!

He is paid for each particular movie he is in by the investors in that movie, whether in the US or somewhere else. He agrees and signs a contract for each movie.

I absolutely adore Johnny Depp. He is an amazing actor and such a sweet and humble person. And he knows who got him there - the fans. I heresay that if he's at an airport with a load of luggage, he'll drop it to give autographs to the fans. Can't wait for his next film!! Your fans love you Johnny!!
