Michelle Williams Plans to Watch 'Brokeback' One Day with Daughter

Hard to believe, but
Michelle Williams' little girl, Matilda, is now 5. And the 'Blue Valentine' star knows the day will come when her daughter will want to learn about the acting legacy of her late father, Heath Ledger -- and about the two co-stars who became her parents.
In a new interview with
Angeleno magazine (via
People.com), Williams talks humbly about her Oscar-nominated work portraying the wife of Ennis Del Mar (Ledger) in 2005's 'Brokeback Mountain,' and acknowledges that the film will always be meaningful in her life as a mom.
"I was just an actor who happened to be lucky enough to be in the right place, and it was the place where I met Matilda's father, and that is a lot," she says of first working with Ledger, who died of an accidental drug overdose in January 2008. "And it will be a lot for Matilda too, when she gets around to watching it. I will watch it with her, when she's ready. It is hard to imagine what that would feel like, but one day, yes, we will watch it together."
The single mom, 30, also says that ever since she moved to LA by herself at the age of 15, she has frequently felt out of sync with peers of her age -- until now.
"I've done a lot. I have taken on a lot of things earlier than would be the standard, in terms of working, of being in a serious relationship and of having a child. ... I was 25 when I had Matilda," she explains. "And so I feel like I have caught up to myself, and 30 feels like a number that maybe matches all those things a little bit better."
The Academy may feel Williams is a match when they announce Oscar nominations Jan. 25. Her lead performance opposite
Ryan Gosling in the searing drama 'Blue Valentine' has earned critical raves since the film opened Dec. 29.

if i hear the words "accidental overdose" 1 more time...i will overdose. there is nothing accidental when an autopsy shows a mix of lg doses in ones system...MJ/Anna/Heath..........
agree 1000%, let it go, disappear.
I am sooooooooo glad I didn't spend any money on that movie or take my son to a cowboy movie. Thank God for heterosexuality. A gay guy cuts my hair and does a pretty good job and I tip him but he plays with another guy's penis and anus. Its not a phobia, just major disgustingly perverted.
Whatev...I find this very sad....

So mdf, you get to spew your pro gay views but you want everyone who doesn't see it your way to shut up. Go watch Pokeback Mountain again and again. I don't care.
Thanks Heath and Jake for being so brave.

Brokeback Mountain is unquestionably the greatest movie of 2005 and perhaps best movie of the century. Heath, Jake and Michelle were perfect for this great epic based on historical significiance. I purchased 11 copies of the movie and donated ten to local public library branches. I am told it is STILL among the top 50 loaners. Matilda is fortunate to have a great mother and will be proud of her father. RIP Heath.

I agree David. Even though CRASH won the Academy Award in 2005 for Best Picture, Brokeback Mountain was more popular and had higher attendance. Crash was a horrible picture and not worthy of a nomination. A quick internet search show Batman, BB Mountain and Crash as the three top movies (in that order). Take away the kiddie appeal of Batman and BB Mountain should have won based on attendance, revenue and overall appeal.
O220 I don't remember asking you a Fcuking thing!!Azzhole!!You are the kind kind that shouldn't exist!!Crawl back in your hole!!
