Countess LuAnn de Lesseps Calls Daughter's N-Word Use 'Unacceptable'
EXCLUSIVE: 'Real Housewives of New York City' star Countess LuAnn de Lesseps calls her 16-year-old daughter's use of the N-word in a YouTube video "unacceptable" and tells
PopEater in an exclusive statement that she'll use this setback to teach Victoria about the consequences of her actions.
"I am the parent of a teenager, and as any parent can attest, teenagers go through periods of doing things that are wrong and not appropriate and that are later regretted," she tells me. "My daughter Victoria knows that the behavior she exhibited was unacceptable. I have chosen to deal with this as a private family matter and an opportunity to discuss consequences of our actions."
Fellow 'Housewife' Ramona Singer leaked the incident to a wide audience when she took to Twitter to spread a shocking claim that Victoria was spotted in a video using drugs, dropping the N-word and causing quite a stir.
"The countess's daughter rolling a cigarette swearing n***er! fast forward to 4.12!!!," Ramona tweeted about the YouTube video.
Both tweet and video have now disappeared (see a screengrab
here), and an apologetic Ramona told me, "I'm not very tech savvy, and [I'm] heartbroken that I accidentally retweeted this. I called Luann and Victoria immediately to apologize and tell them to remove the video. Regardless of our catfights on the show, our children are off-limits."
Although, at last night's 40th anniversary gala kickoff for New York Foundation for the Arts, hosted by 'Housewives' stars Simon van Kempen and Alex McCord, I was reminded that cast members' children have not always been off-limits to other stars.
"None of us are perfect, and sometimes we all tweet or retweet a little too hastily," Simon told me. "But it would be a little duplicitous for LuAnn to complain too much about Ramona's regretful retweet when both she and Jill Zarin had great fun lambasting our oldest son throughout the third season."
Wife Alex added, "In the four years we've been involved with 'Real Housewives,' neither Simon nor I have ever said anything negative about any other castmates' children. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for many others on the show."
Interestingly, Ramona also attended the event, but to hear what she has to say about the Twitter-gate she created, you will just have to watch the show. Yes, Bravo cameras were present.

Who gives a flying flip. It's not like she's the only one saying it these days. Personally I choose not to say this word but who cares what a 16 year old says. I hope the next time a black person calls a white person a "cracker" they get the same publicity that she is getting. Same differece people. It's not like black people are out in the feilds picking cotton and she's yelling at them calling them the n word. It's 2011 now, lets stop act like were living in the 1800's.

Not even close to being the same..
I cant believe how retarded some people are. Too many people just think they have it all figured out. There is so much misdirected anger in this country it makes me sick.

Please don't use 'retarded' in a derogatory fashion. It offends me.
I love when people say "Oh so its okay for black people to say it but what about the double standard for white people?" LOL Would you like to trade & be black?!

Who is the most powerful man in the world? Barrack Obama.
Who is the wealthiest woman in the world? Oprah Winfrey.
The "man" isn't holding anyone back. Make your own destiny and quit being a victim.
REALLY? WHO CARES, BIG DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If blacks are offended by the "N" word, then whites should be allowed to be offended by the words, "cracker," "whitey," "chalk face," "honky," and all the other words that people of color call white folks.
Personally, my Mother would have washed my mouth out with soap and then beat my backside if she had ever heard me degrade anyone with a derogatory word. I was born and raised in the South, and basically the only people I ever hear using the "N" word, are from the North.
However, offensive speech, when it demeans anyone, is wrong.......whether being used by blacks or whites, or in the North or South!

Ramona Singer needs to mind her own business. If she were really a friend to LuAnn, Ramona would've talked to her about it first, not blabbled it all over you tube or anyplace else.

Where, oh, where, does Bravo go to find these "representative" housewives? No matter the city, across the board the women manage to represent the very worst in American womanhood. Okay, more than likely reality shows are scripted -- but would real women with real lives... to say nothing of real money, stoop so low in their REAL lives? Shameful.

Why is it okay for them to call each other that and why doesn't anyone of them say it's unacceptable? Why is it unacceptable for others but not them? This is not the same as saying it's OK. totally different subject. what is unacceptable for us should be unacceptable for them. Hell, rap songs are about the N word by them and it is glorified.

Well what about the H word

Only a small segment of black society uses the n word among themselves (rappers, gang members etc.)or while speaking to others. The average black person does not use the n word. The average black family works, attends church, cares about their family etc. like everyone else. Stop lumping us all together. What if I said all while people are like Charles Manson, Dahmer, Jack the Ripper, Lee Harvey Oswald etc. Stop being rediculous!
i think they both have stinky crotch!

Ramona the busybody of the bunch is just a troublemaker and a sh_it starter, that's all she's good at. I hope Luann beats her just for the heck of it.

Could it be disguised anger in relation to her father's infidelity with a black woman?

I agree with LuAnn. .. teens sayand do things that are not well thought out and parents need to address them....as for Ramona...she is famous for sticking her foot in her mouth and I highly doubt her "not so tech savvy" explanation...

Wow, a white girl trying to talk like she is a black person? I've never heard of this before.
