Eva Longoria's Restaurant Files for Bankruptcy

Times are tough, and
Eva Longoria's Sin City restaurant is feeling it firsthand.
Beso, the Las Vegas restaurant owned by the 'Desperate Housewives' actress, has filed for bankruptcy for restructuring purposes, according to
E! Online.
Since opening just two years ago, the restaurant has accumulated upward of $5.7 million in debt, despite grossing $14.6 million last year.
Beso LLC filed for Chapter 11 protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for assets totaling $2.5 million, according to the
Las Vegas Sun. Both the restaurant and the adjacent nightclub, Eve, have had trouble keeping up with the lease.
From $76,000-a-month losses to $1.8 million owed to landlords, Beso LLC has some major money problems on its hands.
According to the court filing, Longoria has a 32 percent stake in the company, and is also listed as a creditor, having given Beso a $1 million loan to help fund its startup.
Beso's money problems follow a tumultuous few months for Longoria, who filed for
divorce last fall from San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker.
Reps for both the actress and the restaurant declined to comment on the bankruptcy filing.

Unlucky in love & unlucky at business-- perhaps asking for her job back at McDonald's wouldn't be such a bad idea afterall..

I live in Las Vegas and have been to City Center. It's only been open since December of last year. What an expensive mess. Yes, people will visit but there is nothing to make you want to go back. Most of the high end stores are already in Las Vegas. And we really didn't need another group of high priced restaurants and clubs, only the rich can afford. I imagine this will only be the first casualty of the year for that place.

The restaurant business is a hard one, and only the most dedicated and hard working will succeed at price points which people can afford. As a chef, I'm not sure why all celebrities think putting their money into "vanity places" to say I own a restaurant is a good idea, unless of course they need a tax write off. These people make it hard for the rest of us who want our own places to succeed. Any numbskull knows the failure rate of these ventures is huge, and makes it harder for the rest of us to get backers lined up.

You better believe it. I can see, that you have an understanding about the restaurant business. I guess, they just want to have a write off. LOL
Yep! My son opened a new restaurant and bar a couple of months ago and it does take a long time to get going. Our family has been in the restaurant business for over 70 years but opening a new one takes guts in these economic times. (Firebellys Hot Tamales Bar and Grill in Hazlehurst, MS)
With so many other great places to eat in Vegas, and affordable places...why eat at Eva's restaurant? It had bad reviews and was considered very overpriced for the quality.

When are all of these celebrities going to understand that the Restaurant business, is one of the most difficult businesses to have.
Only the very experienced and even they fail. Many think that just by having a good chef that is all they are going to need, But you need a manager that understands food cost. Not everyone does.

It just shows...she should have stayed with Tony. Women can't hold it together without a good man around to supervise.

Are you kidding me? She should have stayed with someone who it appears was cheating on her? Would you stay with your spouse if he/she were having at least an emotional affair, if not a full blown affair, with a friend, no less? I highly doubt it....
G.Blank,, You must be joking..
Its 2011,, you may have noticed that woman can do anything now, with out any mans help.

It's so cute how you hang onto that 70's woman's libber mentality.
You may not have noticed how awful your spelling and grammar is. I guess you're referring to other women, not yourself. Just make sure there is extra cheese on my gordito, ok?
