Report: 'Sarah Palin's Alaska' Not Renewed for a Second Season

TLC may not renew the hit reality show '
Sarah Palin's Alaska' for a second season despite it being a ratings juggernaut for the channel.
EW reports that Sunday's finale will be the last episode aired of the reality series, which averaged 3.2 million viewers per week. The first episode of the show set a ratings record for TLC, gathering a reported 5 million viewers.
TLC has not yet given a reason as to why it may not air a second season. A source close to the show told
PEOPLE that the show "was always planned as a special event, and beyond that there have been no discussions or decisions."
The
Daily Mail is saying that another reason for the show not coming back is the possibility of
Palin running for president in 2012. If she does decide to campaign for the post, she would need to show her commitment to winning the elections rather than spending her time filming the reality show.
The news comes as a surprise since an insider told
PopEater's own Rob Shuter that Palin had started talking about a
new deal for the reality show.
"Sarah knows to strike when the iron is hot and started talking about season two right after the show debuted to huge numbers. She knows that celebrities get millions of dollar for each episode of their shows and thinks she's worth it, too. Jennifer Aniston took home millions from 'Friends,' and in Sarah's eyes, she's no different."
Palin reportedly made more than $250,000 per episode for the eight-week series.
The highly controversial show had PETA
up in arms in response to an episode where Palin shot and killed a caribou. Palin responded by saying that it was a common way to collect food for the cold months. She said, "Hunting is something most Alaskans do to fill their freezer with meat for the winter."
Palin even
tweeted, "Unless you've never worn leather shoes, sat upon a leather chair or eaten meat, save your condemnation of tonight's episode."
Aaron Sorkin, the acclaimed screenwriter of 'The West Wing' and 'The Social Network', wrote in
The Huffington Post, "You weren't killing that animal for food or shelter or even fashion. You were killing it for fun. You enjoy killing animals."
Sorkin went on to criticize the former governor's motivation behind the segment, calling the animal "the first moose ever murdered for political gain."
"You knew there'd be a protest from PETA and you knew that would be an opportunity to hate on some people, you witless bully."

Alaskans must be super rich with lots of time on their hands to be able to afford flying out to their hunting ground and tromp around the tundra, kill their prey, then pack it back to the house. What's the price per pound Sarah, of that animal you killed? Do you even have a clue? Yeah, you'd make a great president...don't realize how putting cross hairs on your "enemies" might incite unbalanced folks...many of which are your supporters! Don't know how to figure cost per pound of taking an animal's life...gosh so much you don't know....

...bet she'll figure out a way to collect unemployment.
if she shot it for fun, why was the moose dressed to the bone with hardly enough meat left to feed a fox on it's bones. and that's a pretty good prediction you made about a tragedy in arizona that happened on saturday. you're the one lacking knowledge about the law of the land. the last time people shot wild game for fun was in the late 1800s when they would shoot buffalo from trains. as for palin causing the shooting in arizona it's already been confirmed that her crosshairs on areas of our country are targets that need improvement. even her stauntist opponents said this. read the latest paper you can get out of your neighbor's trash can before you make sstupid remarks
as one who has personally hunted and shot cariboo, I see nothing wrong with what Sara has done. I happen to love wild game, and moose and cariboo are my favorite meat. I much prefer them to beef or pork.
All the hypocrites on this site probalby stuff their faces every night with steak and roasts, wear leather shoes and handbags.
And before you call me a dumb republican, WRONG, I am a die hard democrat, always have been always will be...but I am too smart to get tied up in the media hysteria and hype of the Palin family
your such a douch. probably a good democrate on the social distribution system (welfare). probably jealous that sarah has her act together
Why would she want to collect unemployment? I hardly think she'll need it.
Sarah, go 2 h-ll.
And her dad had to show ms. mountain woman, how to close the bolt on the murder weapon !!! What a phony she is ! and why hasn't she been arrested yet ?? they had Manson in custody immediately, for the same crime that she just incited ????
In NJ 700 bears were just killed. They say to controll population. Looked more like sport to me.
I agree MKS281
Sara and that so call organization got so explaining to do about the recent incident. TLC is doing the right thing.
Not all of the people will get, or even deserve primaries, but this vote certainly puts a BULLS EYE on their district.

Witness the Arizona shooting. Will Palin and others take back their 2nd Amendment solution talk? Probably for a month or two, then back to rabble rousing.
It was good enough for Teddy Roosevelt and he not only became President of these United States but has an honored place on Mt Rushmore.
she doesnt find as much time to vacation as barack hussein obama
you're a waiste.

Invest in some remedial English courses.
Alaska has the pipeline. Everyone there get a peice of the pie.they receive money through the Permanent Fund Dividend program.
It's YOU that is so freaking clueless. My relatives lived in King Cove Alaska for about 20 years. There are very few roads in Alaska, let alone paved ones that will allow people to get from point A to point B, so it's actually CHEAPER to fly. Pipers and Cessnas are not that expensive to buy, maintain or fly so they are pretty much like taxis up there. Unfortunately, flying in bush planes is very dangerous, so it's not like they are doing this for fun, and to pi** you off, it's a necessity. Also, in your rant you mention the "price per pound" what is that about? The additional fuel that would be used to pack up and fly the animal out? Do you have ANY clue as to how far away Alaska is? How food has to be shipped up there? How EXPENSIVE that is? Most Alaskans hunt for their meat, and purchase canned foods from the states. Produce like apples/pears is pretty iffy because of the barges hauling the food up. You REALLY need to put down the koolaid and try to have an original thought rather than parrot what Olbermann, the Huffington Post, Daily KOS tells you to think.

I agree with you 600%.
