Shakira and Boyfriend Antonio De La Rua Split After 11 Years

We know Shakira's hips don't lie, and neither does her official website. According to an entry posted on her blog, Shakira and boyfriend Antonio De La Rua have "made a mutual decision to take time apart from [their] romantic relationship."

The 33-year-old Colombian singer is a private person who largely avoids ending up in the tabloids. She began dating Antonio, the son of the former President of Argentina, back in 2000. The two remained a couple as Shakira rose through the ranks of fame as an international superstar and Antonio had his own lucrative career as a lawyer.

Shakira's blog says since her split with Antonio happened this past August, the couple has "continued to work together hand in hand, have remained close and have kept the details absolutely private until now."

The Grammy Winner notes that this separation isn't long term, describing this period as "temporary and as a time of individual growth as [they] continue to be partners in [their] business and professional lives."
