Oscar Boycott Story 'Not True,' Says Tom Cruise's Spokesperson

EXCLUSIVE UPDATE: Tom Cruise's people are slapping down a Daily Mail report alleging the 'War of the Worlds' actor and wife Katie Holmes are skipping the Oscars because the event is being co-hosted by Anne Hathaway. Why would someone boycott an event because of Anne Hathaway? A source told the Mail that Holmes was not amused by her peer's recent impression of her on 'Saturday Night Live.'

But as quickly as the story has spread, a spokesperson for Cruise tells PopEater that it is "not true and made up" and that the famous pair had no plans of attending the Oscars before Hathaway's somewhat unflattering skit.

The Daily Mail quoted a now-debunked source saying, "Tom and Katie don't want to have to cross paths with Anne" after the skit. The source said that the couple used to be friends with Hathaway and supported her when she split from her then-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, in 2008.

Hathaway, 28, along with James Franco, 32, will host the 83rd Academy Awards show Feb. 27. They will be the youngest tandem of Academy Award hosts ever.

F%&K them both if they don't have a sense of humor. Who's gives a SH%T about them both anymore. Katie Holmes was never a big time actress anyway and Tom Cruise's career has been spiraling downwards since he did the couch dance on Oprah and tried to be a pregnancy expert on the Today show with Matt Lauer. Besides neither bring nothing to the table and both are as stimulating as handicapped turtles and snails in a match race. Fine Tom and Katie don't go to the awards, no loss. I hope Anne Hathaway hosts the show for the next 20 years

A typical bad skit by SNL. It was in poor taste in every way, and only had two points - belittle Miley for being overexposed and insult Katie for being stupid. It mocked a girl who was underage at the time, and portrayed Katie as stupid without any basis. A much funnier skit would have been to "interview" Anne Hathaway as herself being a clueless actress. Such self depreciating humor would have been hilarious and not insulting to a so-called friend. SNL should begin belittling President Obama and leave the teenage Miley alone.

Do you know how dumb YOU sound. Tom Cruise didn't say they were boycotting anything.. some news media made up that story to sell magazines and several picked it up and reported as true.
Tom's person was only saying the story itself was made up. You just keep drinking the tabloid kool-aid meeker.

Three observations here: #1, the skit was painfully stupid & you could hear the audience straining to laugh at it's lack of humor. #2, I'm no Cruise/Holmes fan but if they wish to boycott the AA because of this ignorance it serves a dual purpose showing they have that right to boycott & they're only playing into the hands of this stupidity by letting it affect them in any way. #3, all of you people posting instead of recognizing the stupidity of all this are equally as guilty attacking Cruise/Holmes over this pettiness, they may actually have a valid point in what they consider betrayal. The world is an absurd theatre of which there are many players, you've just entered the opinionated circle of "who gives a f*ck"!

That's it???? This was more of a jab at Miley Cyrus than anything else. It wasn't even funny. Since I find both Tom Cruise and his wife useless, I don't think they will be missed. Lets face it, we haven't missed them much on the silver screen, have we?
