Oscar Boycott Story 'Not True,' Says Tom Cruise's Spokesperson

EXCLUSIVE UPDATE: Tom Cruise's people are slapping down a Daily Mail report alleging the 'War of the Worlds' actor and wife Katie Holmes are skipping the Oscars because the event is being co-hosted by Anne Hathaway. Why would someone boycott an event because of Anne Hathaway? A source told the Mail that Holmes was not amused by her peer's recent impression of her on 'Saturday Night Live.'

But as quickly as the story has spread, a spokesperson for Cruise tells PopEater that it is "not true and made up" and that the famous pair had no plans of attending the Oscars before Hathaway's somewhat unflattering skit.

The Daily Mail quoted a now-debunked source saying, "Tom and Katie don't want to have to cross paths with Anne" after the skit. The source said that the couple used to be friends with Hathaway and supported her when she split from her then-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, in 2008.

Hathaway, 28, along with James Franco, 32, will host the 83rd Academy Awards show Feb. 27. They will be the youngest tandem of Academy Award hosts ever.

OF COURSE THESE TWO JERKS WOULD FEEL THAT WAY. THEY HAVE NO SENSE OF HUMOR, LIKE THEY ARE SO PERFECT. GIVE ME A BREAK. THEY SHOULD STAY IN CHURCH AND PRAY. BECAUSE THATS ABOUT ALL THEY DO. Two 'actors' that think their better, and smarter than eveyone one else. Tom did a radio gig a few years ago, and I was shocked, shocked at how ignorant the guy is. Tom really thinks he knows more than most doctors do, simply because he read a book. Apparently he and Kate, think their both above being made fun of. If they cant laugh at a joke, they should not be actors.
The religion they both practice, has made them both think their above everyone eles. Some of their beliefs are plain ignorant.
They will not be missed at the awards, or any where.

Well, I'm not going to say good riddance. But why would TomKat allow themselves to run their lives like this? If they want to go to the Oscars, they should just buck up and go.

Personally, I was a fan of Katie years ago. Now I'm not now because her movies suck, and Tom Cruise is one of the most overrated and overpaid "stars" of Hollywood. He's a clown and she's a follower with no mind or backbone of her own.

This skit was nothing. I have seen Celebrity Roasts that were more derogatory. Tom Cruise needs to get a dang sense of humor. Has Scientology stripped this guy of all his senses? And who does he think he is that the Oscars will suffer without him and Holmes? His credibility at the box office is wayyyy down and people are avoiding his movies more and more.
