It was only a week ago when America fell in love overnight with a homeless man with a "golden voice" on the streets of Columbus, Ohio. It was less than a week ago when we all watched Ted Williams life miraculously turn around after reuniting with his mother and finding work -- high profile work with Kraft and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Unfortunately for Williams, 53, old habits always die hard. According to a confirmed report by Gossip Cop, Dr. Phil convinced Williams to go to rehab after he got into a fiery exchange with his daughter Janey on Monday.
Gossip Cop spoke with a representative for Dr. Phil, whom Williams taped two segments with over the weekend. On the program, Williams admits to still drinking; his daughter accused him of sticking to the bottle on Monday.
While shooting the two segments, Williams and his family were reportedly kept separate in two hotels. The first episode was an introduction to Dr. Phil and the second episode, which aired on Wednesday, featured the family reunion.
In an interview with 'Entertainment Tonight,' Williams described a family gathering that devolved into a shouting match between him and daughter Janey.
"I wanted to bring it to a close by just saying 'shut the hell up and let me talk to your mother,'" Williams said. "When that was said out of my mouth, my daughter exploded ... fists started flying, none of which were mine, none of which were mine, but it could have escalated to the point where it could have gotten really ugly. So in the process of doing that, I got scratched on my face."
But Janey had a different story to tell, claiming the argument began because her estranged father, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, had been drinking heavily since being plucked from obscurity.
"He has consumed at least a bottle of Grey Goose a night. That's not including the Coronas he ordered, that's not including the Budweisers he ordered, the other alcohol, the wines. He drinks heavily," she said.
Ted Williams denied he's been drinking, but admitted to CBS News on Friday that his sudden rise to fame has been a challenge. "I wanted a nerve pill yesterday, to be honest with you."
Life coach and radio host Mel Robbins tells PopEater that Williams' feel-good story was doomed from the moment it became clear the media was going to latch onto him and not let go.
"The media created a reality show right in front of our eyes," she says. "Ted Williams may have a golden voice, but he's also got a rap sheet, a drug addiction, nine children he abandoned and a mother he has been estranged from for 20 years. Does everyone deserve a second chance, sure. But don't kid yourself -- you can't overcome a lifetime of bad decisions and mental health issues with a few morning show appearances."
"If Ted is ever going to get better, he's got to be honest with himself and admit he's addicted to drugs and alcohol," Dr. Phil said. "I've told him it's not going to be easy and it's going to take a lot of hard work. It might be a long journey for him, but this is a big step in the right direction."
Who do you people think you are? You seem to be saying Hate them all. Well to H_ll with you. He was thrust into a scenario that mentally, physically, and most importantly, spiritually; he was not prepared for. Dr. Phil took it over the edge when he confronted him with his family, knowing that it would be angst filled and trouble. Phool, er, Phil did it for the ratings. In AA it is usually a very long and arduous process to reunite with family, and we do not suggest it until the sponsor or fellowship deems it a possibility. Why is everyone so ignorant to alcoholism and addiction? And most of all, it is a disease. That is a medical fact. Would you hate someone with cancer?
In this country, there is no reward for doing the right thing. Doing the right thing does not even get you noticed! Take drugs and drink and people fall all over themselves to help you. Although I am too old to change, had I had my life to live over, I would not have done without, been honest, gone hungry and would not have taught my family to do the right thing because by doing so, there is NO REWARD! Where Is MY REWARD?
I was fascinated and happy for Ted Williams until I found out he has seven felony convictions and abandoned his wife and nine (9) children to fend for themselves. He's an alcohilic and drug addict. Add it all up and he's a really disgusting person and I dont care if he has a voice or not.
Dr. Phil made plans to set Ted Williams up. Dr. Phil paid Ted's daughter alot of money to set him up to fail. Dr. Phil didn't have much of a show at the time, and Ted Williams was clean and sober for two years. It was the only way Phil would have a show. Dr. Phil is under investigation for frud and other charges.
He should stay away from his screwed up family ,, and concentrate on the job opportunities he is SO lucky to have. His stupid daughter would drive anyone to drink. TED... GO TO WORK with your great voice, and get help for the addiction problems.
Another Bible thumper who obviously needs more than prayer. Be realistic!! Prayer makes the person praying feel good, but if it really worked; no one would die. Religious FAITH is a killer. When logic, reason, and honest replace Religious FAITH we may find peace in this world.
Whats wrong with bible thumping? Without a little faith you have no hope and without hope you have nothing. God bless you anyway. God loves you just the same if you believe or not.
it doesn't take a shrink to talk someone into rehab. dr. phil is a total phoney........only in America could a oprah make a phil a star. let me know when they're both gone
The 'problem' with bible thumpers is that....they usually offer little else......AND........they are usually very very flawed messes themselves !! Seen it over and over and over and....zzzzzzz !! And many of them think 'god' is their own little bodyguard.
I have had my doubts about this guy from the gitgo. I also knew he was lying big time when he said he had been clean and sober for 2 years. People believe what they want to believe. When Dr. Phil was trying to coax him to leave from the show and go straight to Rehab in Texas you could see williams start to balk. Then he did the manipulation/bargaining - wanted a few days to see his girlfriend (from waht I hear is a bad influence) and Dr. Phil "caved" by allowing a "supervised" stopover. WRONG! That guy will leave rehab first chance he gets. Fame and fortune awaits! He can't be bothered with rehab. He couldn't even remain at the dentist for them to do a dental makeover. Gee I wish someone would pay for my dental work. Everyone knows to make his (Williams) teeth presentable it's going to cost megabucks - but hey - he's the guy with the "golden" voice. The media has already lost interest - nary a mention of the happenings on the Dr. Phil show. Bunch of phonies!
Yeah - sure he admitted it - but only after he was caight in so many lies - denial was no longer an option. It was like pulling hens teeth to get hin to own up to his lies. The guys a loser.
Ted William will be back on the radio talk show after Rehab. I did hear his daughter has a very bad manner, and she need to clear out her nasty foul words on the Televisiom talk shows next time speak about her father on air.

From Ripple to Grey Goose over night. This won't end well

At least he's NOT in denial about his drinking, and has gone in for treatment. God bless him, and I wish him the best of luck.

After people like Dr.Phil(who is of course not a Dr.) and others are done using this guy for ratings he will most likely end up back on the streets
