Report: Kate Hudson Won't Visit Dying Grandma, Says Estranged Dad

Kate Hudson may be looking forward to expanding her family with the addition of a new baby, but not everything on the Hudson home front is happy news.

The actress's estranged father, Bill Hudson, tells RadarOnline.com that his daughter refuses to visit her 88-year-old grandmother, who is losing a battle with Alzheimer's.

"I have called Kate and texted her dozens of times begging her to help her grandmother, but she hasn't responded to me," Bill says.

Bill, a musician who earned moderate recognition in the 1970s as a member of the group The Hudson Brothers, has not spoken to his daughter in seven years, but hopes she will put any bad blood aside and reach out to her grandmother while there's still time.

Kate's father divorced her mother, Goldie Hawn, when Kate was only 1 year old. Now, Bill is trying to sell a tell-all book about his marriage to Hawn. He claims the actress cheated on him with a number of men and tried to convince him to have an open marriage.

Bill says that while Kate's brother, actor Oliver Hudson, stays in contact with Bill's other children, Kate won't even meet her 4-year-old stepsister. He says that "spoiled brat" Kate didn't even tell his side of the family about her pregnancy.

"My daughter Emily speaks with Oliver, Kate's brother," says Bill. "He told her, and she told me."

While Bill says he hopes to someday meet his daughter's new baby and her 7-year-old son, Ryder, he still harbors some hard feelings against her. "I love Kate, but I think she has been contrived and destructive with me and with her other brothers and sisters. She has done stuff which is just awful," he says.

At the end of the day, Bill says his main goal is to have Kate get in contact with her grandmother while she still can. "Kate doesn't have to talk to me, and she doesn't have to give her a dime of her millions," he says. "All I want is for her to call and say, 'Hi, Grandma' before it's too late."

Sorry, but I think it's just a ploy for him to get his name into the news. If his mother is losing her battle with Alzheimer's she won't even know who Kate is even if she did call or even go see her. The end stages of that disease is all memory gone and it won't help her a bit to have someone she doesn't even know call or visit.

I think it's a wee bit short-sighted to accuse the guy of just wanting to "get his name in the news". Obviously he could have pulled that kind of stunt, were it his intention, years ago when Kate Hudson was actually somewhat relevant. I can't stand her personally, and here's yet another example of exactly why.

Wow, Bill Hudson seems unbalanced. Now we know why Kate has nothing to do with him. Who knows, maybe grandma had some involvement with Kate's dad leaving Goldie Hawn for Cindy Williams. I remember reading about the breakup at the time and Goldie was devastated, with 2 little kids to raise alone, including a 1 year old baby. Goldie went on to be an even bigger star than she already was, and Hudson and Williams kind of faded from sight. Judging from this interview, Bill Hudson doesn't seem like a loving father, just angry that his rich relative isn't supporting his family.

She has always impressed me as very self centered and spoiled. The only reason she was able to get into show business is because of who her mother is. She was decent in "Almost Famous" but only because she was playing a character so similar to herself... a ditzy blonde! She has since proven herself to be just another celebrity, more concerened with fashion than with acting. She may have had a difficult and strained relationship with her father but don't take it out on the rest of the family!
