Keira Knightley and Rupert Friend Split

Actress Keira Knightley has reportedly split from her boyfriend of five years, Rupert Friend.

According to The Sun, the relationship was already on the rocks in December, and the couple made a mutual decision to part ways after a heart-to-heart conversation before Christmas.

"Yes, they have broken up," Knightley's father, Will Knightley, confirmed to the newspaper. "But that's the way things go, unfortunately."

He continued, "They were together for quite a long time, and it is always hard breaking up. She's focused on her work."

The pair met on the set of 'Pride & Prejudice' in 2005, but Knightley's rising A-list status did not go down well with Friend.

A friend told the paper, "Rupert hates the idea of being followed and photographed. Keira partially had to accept it because of her rising profile. It affected the harmony in the relationship. The pressure took its toll, and both decided they should go their separate ways. They will remain life-long friends."
