Sometimes things get dirty even for the domestic goddesses among us. Martha Stewart's beloved French bulldog, Francesca, sent the crafty queen to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.TMZ reports that Martha leaned over to "whisper goodbye" to the sleeping pup. Martha assumes she "startled" the dog, because Francesca shot upward and hit Martha in the face, busting open her lip.
Martha says she "felt a bit of whiplash as blood gushed forth from [her] split lip." Unable to stop the bleeding herself, Martha called the police for a ride to hospital. She then remembered she had her own driver on standby, who was able to get her to the emergency room.
She received nine stiches to close up the bloody gash on her upper lip. Let's hope her doctor sewed that wound up precisely -- Martha's an expert seamstress and undoubtedly inspected the M.D.'s work.

Now that's funny...I would have done the same if I was sleeping pup and woke up to her in my face.

I don't watch her but I do raise standard poodles and you just dont startle SPOILED dogs, which I DO NOT have but I'm sure she does.
ive been dog bit a few times . the doctors always refuse stitches because they said infection risk .it had to be open to drain .story sounds fishy to me .

Read the story again....it DOES NOT say that she was bitten by the dog....only that the "startled" dog jerked its head up and the dog's head hit Stewart in the mouth, splitting her lip. So, based on that, I guess stitches might have been in order.
It wasn't a bite, was a fat lip from the dog's head hitting her in the mouth. Not a puncture wound
The wound doesn't look like a dogbite to me and Martha would want to tell the truth about the dog hitting her face. So if she was not bit maybe that's why stitches were the best treatment. My dog has hit my mouth with the top of her head before. Glad to know you are watching for dog bites too.
She had the nerve to call the cops "for a ride to the ER"? She thinks she can just waste their time? She could have called a taxi. And the "was kissing her dog good-bye"? So where was her ride? Oh yeah...she finally "remembered she had one on stand-by". And don't give her an excuse that she was in shock from bleeding...

It wasn't a bite, he raised up startled when she whispered good bye to him and their heads collided, no bite.
Stupid dogs......Another fine example whay I hate dogs.................

Oh yes it is the dog's fault, that twit got in her face. You don't do that to a sleeping dog. Anyone who hates an animal; has some issues themselves. One thing I can't stand; stupid humans.
