Hollywood's recent baby boom just gained a little more momentum from actress Selma Blair. The 38-year-old 'Hellboy' actress is reportedly "ecstatic" about the unexpected news.A source tells Star magazine that Selma and her boyfriend of less than a year, fashion designer Jason Bleick, have no immediate plans to wed. Selma was married to musician Frank Zappa's son Ahmet from 2004 to 2006.
The source continues that Selma "never thought she could be this happy." The actress has yet to release a statement about her pregnancy, and no details of the due date have been disclosed.
Selma has had a long and steadily successful career in film and television, and is a rare star who has managed to stay out of the tabloids. She played 'Kim' alongside comedian Molly Shannon in NBC's short lived remake of the Australian sitcom 'Kath & Kim.' Many remember her for her part in the 1999 drama 'Cruel Intentions,' where she starred alongside Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe.
Selma's baby will have lots of playmates in tinsel town. Actors Owen Wilson, Kate Hudson and Marion Cotillard are also expecting.

I always wonder why women choose to have a child at that late of age...I mean by the time the child graduates from school shes going to be almost hitting 60.

sometimes life doesn't happen the way you plan, I never thought I would be having my first child at 38 & my second at 40, but here I am. But I have to ask, what do you care if she's (or me) nearing 60 when the child graduates? I wanted to be a mom my whole life, why shouldn't I (or Selma) have a baby at 38? Geez.
i agree i dont know why people start having kids so late im glad im a young mom and my mom a young grandma she was in her 40's when i made her a grandma
Better a 40 year old than a 16 year old.
And I've always wondered why there are people so judgemental? CONGRATULATIONS Selma!
Spoken like a gum snapping clueless teenager.
Wow, everyone is getting knocked up. Congrats to her.

I totally agree with you there...babies having babies is never good. I just know that my late fiances mother had him at the age of 40 and it did cause some issues with his health...mind you he was born in the 70's, medicine is a lot more advanced these days.
Good for her, I like Selma.
I like the fact that women chose to wait until their late 20s to mid 30s to have children. At least by that time they know what it means to be a responsible adult

First of all, why are these women "surprised" to find out they got knocked up? If you don't use protection, that's the result -- and secondly, everyone gushes at how wonderful it is -- right -- they are populating the world with bastards left and right -- they don't bother getting married anymore, just have kids and hey, if they split up, so what -- these kids are in for a world of confusion. Also, the only difference between them and a kid getting pregnant is they have money and fame -- so apparently that makes it all okay. Get real.

How dare you call someone that! How would you feel if that was what someone called you at least this woman is financially able that if he leaves the child will have a fortunate life. It's not like Octomom who is on welfare and all sorts of crap now that's a disgrace this is someone who is happy with having this child and knows the responsibilities of a mother. It's not like she is 16 like those girls on 16 and pregnant is an ADULT! So my sister who was engaged for a year and got was 2 months pregnant when her husband her got married and have been for 3 years now their child is a bastard because it was concieved out of wedlock into one of the most functioning and loving homes that I know? You are disgusting.

And you are so perfect? Who is honestly going to sit there and label every child who happens to be born into a loving family a bastard you? You are a piece of work and I hope your family has many "bastards" that you speak of so lightly.

Get with the times you old fashioned Crock of waste, no one is a virgin when they get married and if they kudos to them but to label innocent children who can't defend themselves is wrong.

Margery is an f**** idiot. Sorry to be like "her" and judge ... but it is what it is.

Last I checked, a woman couldn't "get herself" knocked up; she needs a little help for that. Looks like you need a little help, too - intolerance is an ugly, ugly thing.

I guess there's something wrong with getting married first before getting pregnant. DISGRACEFUL!

Tiffany,
She has money so a nanny will most likely raise the child and she will be a great deal younger than the mother.

What are you, like 90? Suppose to get married a virgin. Why, because you say so? I've been with the same guy over 20 years, we have a 15 year old son, and guess what you old coot, we're still not married. It's never been important or of interest to me. And don't start quoting that fairy tale "Bible" to me. Not interested. In any case, congrats to Selma.
