Taylor Momsen Opens Up About Hurtful Comments

'Gossip Girl' star and The Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen is no stranger to the spotlight and recently opened up to Kerrang about her edgy public image. She has certainly come a long way since "Little Jenny Humphrey."

"I'll admit that I'm a little crazy," she told the rock magazine. When asked about the negative news constantly surrounding her, she continued, "I ignore what people say and focus on my music and doing what I do."

The singer, who is on hiatus from her prep school character on 'Gossip Girl,' has turned to performing with her band full time.

Momsen, 17, used the Kerrang interview to "set the record straight" regarding her earlier comments about her parents. She recently shared with Revolver magazine, "My parents signed me up with Ford [modeling agency] at the age of 2. No 2-year-old wants to be working, but I had no choice."

After facing backlash -- from both the public and her parents, who felt "horrible" about the interview -- Momsen told Kerrang, "Don't believe everything you read about me in the press."

"I think my parents have learned by this point that none of [what they read] is probably true, and words can be put in your mouth," she said.

Though it may seem like the young singer has grown up a bit too fast, she claims she still had a childhood.

"Maybe I didn't have the childhood people think you should have, but I still went through the ages," she explained. "I was still a child."

(sighs in exasperation) ..."Like, I didn't have the 'childhood' you think I should have had. But I was still a CHILD. I went through the AGES, like 2, 3, 4.... so I was actually at one time a CHILD! Jesus!"

LOL! Thanks for clarifying that for us! Otherwise we would have thought, 'poor thing had no childhood' and actually thought you had been born a 17 year old f'up and went through those early years AS a 17 year old in ripped pantyhose and a leather bra. (Well, maybe you did have a leather diaper as a 2 year old, lol!)
