The Hollywood baby boom isn't over yet. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have welcomed a baby girl, who was born via a surrogate. Faith Margaret Kidman Urban arrived Dec. 28 at Nashville's Centennial Women's Hospital."Our family is truly blessed, and just so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret," the couple said in a statement (via PEOPLE).
"No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude that we feel for everyone who was so supportive throughout this process, in particular our gestational carrier."

Congratulations to them! I understand that the baby biologically belongs to both parents. Maybe since she is 43 and has had past miscarriages, Nicole didn't want to take the risk. I respect the fact that they like to keep their family life private. Too many celebrities are always "out there" and give us too much information.

So now we have celebrities having babies by surrogate. We have human baby factories. Some of course cannot have children--others just dont want to stop working or spoil their figures....I find it sickening.

I've been thinking that same thing: that Nicole preferred to keep her skinny Hollywood perfect body and continue to work. The real reason might be as has been stated here: that she had trouble with previous pregnancies, but I'm cynical of these Hollywood folks.
Tom Cruises first wife didnt have kids; Nicole and Tom adopted both kids-- so we never knew which one might have been infertile. Tom and Katy have two biological children. Nicole had a pregnancy with her first baby..so it appears that infertility or unable to give birth is a moot point.
First of all, congrats to them! I think they are a wonderful couple! Having had fertility problems and 2 miscarriages myself, I know that getting pregnant and carrying to term once can be a physical and emotional battle. I am expecting again in a couple months but it was never a given for us. Also, using a surrogate doesn't necessarily mean its not "her own" baby. Surrogates can carry a child conceived by another woman's egg and just be the carrier and sometimes she her own eggs are fertilized if the woman's eggs are not viable.

I'd guess she just didn't want to have a baby around Golden globe and Oscar time so she dumped the job off on a surrogate. She didn't have any "mommy clothes to wear" on the red carpet. Talk about inflated egos and hyped sense of self endowment in Hollywood. I hope the baby doesn't grow up to be so short like Urban.

Strange woman...she wants a new kid but you VERY rarely see or hear her speak of her two oldest, adopted children. It's like they don't exist anymore!

I hate when people label her other 2 children "adopted children"! They are her children the same as her two youngest daughters. People do not introduce there children as there biological children so why do it for adopted children.

They said on the news the child is theirs biologically. The surrogate just carried the baby, she did not supply the ovum. Therefore, the chance of Downe's Syndrome would not be any different. Maybe Nicole has a problem with her uterus that makes carrying to term difficult or impossible.

I think perhaps this was an invitro embryo frozen. Kind of like the Celine Deon twins. Except this time it was implanted in someone else to save Nicole trouble or her career. Who knows why she decided to do this. BTW, Sara Jessica Parker did the same thing with her twins.
does this mean the sperm of keith and the egg of some other woman united to make a child? Is this the biological child of the surrogate.

Nicole and Keith: Congratulations on your new blessing! So happy the baby is healthy. Sunday Rose must be thrilled to have a new baby sister. May all your lives be filled with joy and health and with God right in the middle. Blessings,
Diane

I don't understand why every time her children with Tom Cruise are mentiond it is always "her adopted children" The meaning of adopted "to take into your family and raise as your own"
ow sad those children must feel everytime they are referred in that context.

Congratulatons to Nicole and Keith. It's amazing that people think they have a say in how celebrities run their lives. The choice one has is to support or not support them in their professional lives. I'm happy for them.

What I would like to know is where do the two kids (Conner & Isabel?) that she and Tom adopted are? Who do they live with, I don't believe either of their "parents".

Please, please, please stop referring to them as her "adopted children" They ARE HER CHILDREN...period! Adoption is a legal term that brings a family together not defines them for life!

I really don't support the choice of using a surrogate mother for a Hollywood couple who doesn't want to be bothered with the inconvenience of pregnacy and birth. Gosh, it just might hinder their career. Now they will probably have a nanny raise the kid too!

One more precious little miracle is now added to this family.....I wish them the very best!

Why do we have to see Jennifer Aniston's ugly face and hear what is not news about her every single day. Give us a break.
