Kim Kardashian Blames 'Teen Mom' for Real Life Teen Pregnancy Epidemic

It's a good thing
Kim Kardashian has a show on E! and not MTV. The reality star has taken a stand against the latter network's glamorization of teen pregnancy with its hit show 'Teen Mom.'
The celebutante took to Twitter to sound off on a troubling trend amongst some of Tennessee's youth.
"Does the show 'Teen Mom' disturb anyone else? Can't get this Memphis story out of my head. This should NOT be trendy!" she tweeted, then followed up with a special message "to all young girls out there" on her
personal blog.
"While I was at 'The Today Show' this morning I saw a story about a Memphis high school where 90 young female students were either pregnant or have given birth this year! ... It seems that shows like 'Teen Mom' are all of a sudden making teen pregnancy seem cool in the eyes of young girls," she wrote. "The kids from these shows are all over the news, even on the covers of magazines, and have become almost like celebrities, but girls, these are not people you should idolize," she wrote.
Kim continued, reminiscing on her own youth, "When I think back to when I was 16, there is no way I would even have considered having a baby," she wrote. "Having a baby is one of the biggest, and most life-changing decisions a person can make and while I'm not saying that no teen is in the position to raise a child, having a baby so young shouldn't be seen as the trendy thing to do," she wrote.
"Girls, please, think very carefully before you make these kind of decisions," she continued on her blog. "Take to your family, friends, teachers, and most of all, be careful."
The girl's got a point. Who would've thought Kim could go from sex tape to sex educator in just a matter of years?

Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends..
she's trying to put Maury Povich out of business. how will Connie afford egg rolls?
I don't agree to often with KK but she truly has her head on streight with this one. Teen Mom is the worst show ever and the network should be ashamed of themselves for running it.

Really? Sounds to me like maybe Kim is jealous. These 16 year old kids can get men and have babies and she can't. Anyone who has watched the show knows it does NOT glamorize having babies at that age. I make my kids watch it, so they realize what they could be in for if they make the wrong decision.

It's nice to know that dinosaurs like you still roam the earth, Doc. Did it ever occur to you that women want more than to "get a man" (or a boy), have unprotected sex, and have babies.
These girls also get arrested, are drug addicts, and LOSE their children to Child Protective Services. Yeah, right, Kim is JEALOUS. What a joke.
I think she's right. They pay these good-for-nothing trailer trash girls who are too stupid to use birth control good money and they are on the covers of magazines. Great role models for young girls. Just meet a guy at WalMart, take him back to the trailer and have unprotected sex, and you have a career!
I don't think I would use this show as teen birth control. I've never seen the show and they may not necessarily 'glamorize' teen pregnancy - however, those girls are making alot of money and in this reality tv society we live in, I am thinking that some girls may think "hey, if I get pregnant, I could be on a tv show and make lots of money and be on magazine covers!" Scary.
Yeah, no baby but............make a porn tape, have a career................

Kim...Kim...Kim, Let me start by saying that I just love U and your whole fam. I have never missed a show. But MTV is just capitalizing on an idea that is getting EXTREME ratings. Stop Hating. Your quite a savy business women, and if you ran MTV you would do the same. MTV has ALWAYS had a knack for what is going to make them money, and get them noticed. Whether you like Teen Mom or not everyone has an opinion. That's what MTV wants they're programming on your mind.

Has she even watched the show? As a teen mother myself (now 28), I've followed the show from the beginning. It in no way glamorizes teenage motherhood - quite the contrary, actually, which KK would know if she'd watched just one episode. It shows the struggles teen mothers face in their relationships, finances, education, families, etc. Each show begins with a statement about teen pregnancy being 100% preventable, encouraging young girls to visit a website for more info.
BTW - and I know I might be in a minority here - to this day I only have my one child, have 3 undergraduate degrees and a master's, and am happily married to a successful medical practitioner. It has been a long, hard road, obviously, but applying a stigma to teen mothers universally is ignorant.
I find the entire Kardashian clan distasteful and think it's laughable that someone with a sex tape is advising young girls on proper behavior. Her career began with a sex tape and her own sister has an out-of-wedlock baby with a violent-prone dbag. Khloe seems the most normal of them all.
