Video: Ashley Sullivan's 'American Idol' Audition

It's not uncommon to watch contestants put forth their showbiz dreams in their auditions, but it seems that the state of New Jersey has opened up a can of crazy as far as 'American Idol' auditions go.

Ashley Sullivan aspires to be the first "showtunes pop star." (Has anyone told her this has been done already, as in 'Glee' or Liza Minnelli?)

But Sullivan's got the drive, and frankly, disturbing desperation, to prove it. After the audition and a whole lot of begging, she got the golden ticket. Check out her audition on 'Idol' after the jump.

New judge Steven Tyler was so impressed by Sullivan's "unbridled enthusiasm" that he promised, "I'm gonna personally work that into something good."

American Idol was BORING. Steven Tylor boring and if he opens his mouth again and squibs a cry out, forget it. JLo, was to nice and ueber-boring (OK, she is pretty) and Andy....what is that? You are judging this show since 11 years. Grow a back bone. Say no. To all the weirdos and mediocre singers you put through.
And please AI, no more sobby stories about contestants life's, it is not fair to the ones, you don't show!

Ashley will not make it past the next round. I watched last night and might not watch anymore. AI needs to go after this year.

the show was a BORE. J.Lo was so boring and animated, it can't get worse. i usually like her but being a judge is not her forte. Tyler was a little better than her but not much.

Am I the only one that enjoyed the show? I expected to hate it because I loved Simon. I think it needs a little work but I found it entertaining and fresh.

Though im sure talent is a factor the actual appeal of "idol" is the unfolding drama. The episodes leading up to the live hollywood shows are masterfully edited to showcase ummm potential "plot lines" if you will. The three new judges will have their mettle tested eventually when they have to narrow it down to 24 contestants. The show lost 13 million viewers from last years premiere show but still garnered 26 million viewers. Simon Cowell will be missed. His perspective, no matter how blunt, reveals (mirrors) the brutal world of show business.
