'Bachelor' Brad Womack Admits Mistakes

As reports of Brad Womack's alleged past indiscretions surfaced this week, the star of ABC's 'The Bachelor' admits his youthful mistakes to PEOPLE.

Tabloid rumors recently began to swirl of Womack's brushes with the law, which include fake IDs, public intoxication and forged checks.

"I'm sure I wouldn't be the first to admit that I had a couple of missteps when I was a teenager -- some 20 odd years ago," Womack told the magazine. "Some of the claims have been blown out of proportion, but I took responsibility for my actions and took immediate measures to remedy the situation."

Womack, now 38, continues, "It was just part of my growing pains back when I was still young and naive. You learn from your experiences good and bad -- and you move on. It ultimately builds character."

This isn't the first time around the 'Bachelor' block for Womack. He starred on the reality dating show in 2007, but famously rejected the final two women. ABC brought him back for the 2011 season, currently airing, with a promise to "find love."

I can't seem to trust the man. What he did wasn't wrong. Why should he get engaged when he didn't love them. The show is what is wrong. It makes the bachelor or bachelorette put on the farce! We need to stop watching it.

Sure he was a jerk when he rejected both DeAnna and Jenni back in 2007 but if he wasn't in love with either one, he did the right thing. People don't remember that the second Bachelorette did the same thing... didn't pick either person at the end and she never got flack for it. Sure, the Bachelor might have a lot, and I mean a LOT of failed relationships but it's fun reality TV and one heck of a guilty pleasure.

I agree that he did the right thing in the 2007 season by not choosing anyone if he wasn't in love. And I admit that it's also my guilty pleasure to watch this train-wreck of a show! But, you know what? In my opinion, Brad Womack has very little personality and absolutley NO charisma!

Ratings are way down for this season...I wonder why? Brad had his turn and chose to make the decision he made. He is no longer entertaining and the viewers have no interest in seeing him "try again". Big mistake ABC on this one.

Why was he chosen to participate a 2nd time..? He's seems phoney-he'll be under such pressure not to reject someone a 2nd time, I'd be skeptical if I was the girl he chose. Just my opinion.

Big mistake going for another season. Enough Bachelor/Bachelorette. Especially now that everyone knows that it is scripted & phoney.
