George Clooney: No More Weddings For Me!

On Friday, George Clooney resolved to stay single, despite near-constant speculation about whether he'll ever wed his Italian girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis.

Clooney, 49, appeared on CNN's 'Piers Morgan Tonight' alongside his father, veteran journalist Nick Clooney. And according to Us, the Oscar winner's dad said he "yearned for the moment" his famous son would tie the knot.

But Clooney made it clear: his married days are behind him. "I hate to blow your whole news story, but I was married, so I gave it a shot," he said, referring to his 1989-'93 marriage to Talia Balsam, the actress who now plays Natalie Portman's mom in the new rom-com 'No Strings Attached.'

On Morgan's broadcast, Clooney said his failed stint as a spouse should have "proven how good I was at it." (Balsam, who never apparently renounced marital bliss, is now the wife of 'Mad Men' star John Slattery.)

Canalis, for her part, has expressed profound contentment with the relationship. The 32-year-old beauty told 'Vanity Fair' last year, "I feel more embraced than ever before...Being so loved is overwhelming...George has given color back to my life."

In addition to rejecting a future as anyone's husband, Clooney also told Morgan he wasn't cut out for politics. "Honestly, my job is as good as they get," he said, "I think that I am best suited as an advocate for issues....And I look to people who are far smarter and far better at this than I am to lead."

Clooney recently confirmed that while doing humanitarian work in Sudan this month, he contracted malaria. On Friday he joked, "I guess the mosquito in Juba looked at me and thought I was the bar."

I think George just likes to keep all his money. Good for him. Better to give half of it to charity than, half to some bim who will leave him in three years.

mhwyman7 you must be nuts, gay, no way. I give George Clooney a lot of credit for not marrying if he feels marriage is not for him. It is better this way than so many of the other stars who marry then get divorced multiple times. At least he doesn't father a brood of children out of wedlock and flaunt them in public like others do. Go George, you are o.k. in my books...

i agree with you *George* didnt know you were ever married, but once is definitely enough....marriage has lost its luster..and just because he deliberately chooses to not marry, (again?), does not mean he is gay, fool!!! i think he may have learned his lesson, and that lesson being-it isnt necessary....cost a lot to get out of it once you get in it--why set yourself up for that...

I do not think this chick is anything special, she has a horse face, and only looks so-so. Clooney has had significantly hotter women, why marry this horse anyway? Puhleezee...

Maybe because beauty is only skin deep & it is in the eye of the beholder. She is beautiful for many different reasons I am sure. At least george thinks so. You have alot to learn.
