MSNBC Eyeing Alec Baldwin for Hosting Duties?

Now that MSNBC has said goodbye to its top draw, Keith Olbermann, the news network is looking to find a new marquee star for its growing brand, and sources tell me their ultimate wish list is topped by none other than '30 Rock' star
Alec Baldwin.
"He's already part of the NBC family, has a huge fan base and is very respected for his long term passions for politics," a network source tells me, adding that Alec is very high, perhaps even No. 1, on the wish lists of MSNBC bigwigs.
Alec, who plays a right-leaning media exec on the hilarious '30 Rock,' has expressed political aspirations before. But his recent discussion with CNN host Eliot Spitzer advanced that position.
"Yes, it's something that I'm very, very interested in," Alec, 52, answered when the governor-turned-host asked if politics was a "game" he wanted to enter. "To quit (acting) now when it really feels good and doing it feels good would be an enormously difficult thing to do. However, I do believe that people want to believe that someone who deeply cares about the middle class ... would like to seek public office."
A friend of Alec's tells me that if he opts out of politics (and acting, of course), a career as a cable news opinion host would suit him perfectly.
"He's brilliant on camera and honestly cares about news and fighting for the rights of everyday people," my source believes. "Don't count him out. There was a time when everyone said Alec would never do a sitcom, only movies. Those same people are saying he would never run for office or host a political show."
With Alec you should expect the unexpected!

Okay, NBC gets rid of Keith Olbermann because he was "too angry?" So, Alec Baldwin is high on their wish list. Too funny-talk about anger issues. I am now a former viewer of MSNBC.

wait...you're now a "former viewer of MSNBC" based on a rumor you read in an article that has a question mark at the end of the headline?
very impressionable.
I agree, Baldwin's nothing more than a fatter, more rude version of Queiff Olbermann. A couple of doucher's in a pod, that's fer sure.
Personally, I think Baldwin would be a great replacement for Keith. He's very knowleagable about politics and the events of the day and he is certainly capable of carrying on interesting dialogues. I hope he lands the position, if he wants it.

Seriously? The guy's a yutz.
Go for it Alec....I would start watching MSNBC.....

If he's that into politics, I've never heard him. I imagine he's very liberal, so that would work well as a replacement for Olbermann, also. Alec's a little hot-headed, but so is Bill O'Reilly. I think it could work. Definitely wouldn't HURT MSNBC. LOL

His ratings couldn't be much worse than Olbermann - or 30 Rock, for that matter.

Alec Baldwin? MSNBC, you're out of your minds!
You're all just worthless, greedy little pigs
if you think he could replace Keith Olbermann.

Wow--how to respond to this one. MSNBC = greedy little pigs, big thumbs up. He could never replace Keith Olbermann, well, anyone with half a mind could do that--so Alec Baldwin fits the bill nicely.
Sure give him the job - that's one way of making him disappear!

Are you kidding me? The most outspoken celeb with Schwetty Balls? No Way!

You are right. Maybe this is the best way to get rid of him.

Yes, put this hollyhood liberal on tv with the rest of the idiiot liberals to force their stupid ideas down our necks. I personally don't care about this idiot and we can hear how he talked tohis daughter on the phone and this will show he is just another angry person, who would be pumping gas if it wasn't for the liberal hollyweird people.

You spelled "idiot" wrong.
That's why they are considering him. It impressed them how liberal he acts toward his own little girl cussing her out so he should be very good for the show.
