EXCLUSIVE: 'American Idol' viewers are still wiping away tears after watching Chris Medina audition in honor of his brain-damaged fiancee this week, and The Script, the Irish trio responsible for the heart-wrenching ballad he sang, tells PopEater they're "moved" by his performance of 'Breakeven' and are pulling for him to win.
"We write our music from a pure and honest place and to see Chris singing 'Breakeven' moved us all," singer Danny O'Donoghue tells us. "The world would be a better place if more people were more like him. Too often we place our admiration on people who don't deserve it, but in this case we have a rare individual, a selfless individual who truly puts others ahead of himself."
Medina's fiancee, Juliana Ramos, suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident just two months before their wedding. In his touching story, Medina said he believed Juliana would have wanted him to audition and make it through to Hollywood. He wowed the judges and brought viewers to tears with his story of devotion to her.
The Script's guitarist Mark Sheehan is similarly impressed, both with Medina's performance of 'Breakeven,' and also his character.
"The biggest pay off for us with our music is when it finds real people like Chris Medina for him to sing it like it was his own song about something so personal," he said. "That to me is why we make music. His story touched us so much we can only hope that we will all stand by our loved ones like him. That takes a real man. He's already a winner to us."
O'Donoghue adds that he's pulling for Medina to go all the way on 'Idol.'
"It was an honor to hear words we wrote in our darkest day sung so beautifully by this extraordinary man and I hope he makes it all the way to the final, and moves the world on his way there."
An estimated 25.2 million people watched Medina's impressive run-through of 'Breakeven' on Wednesday's show.
The video package that 'Idol' prepared for him was filled with the type of poignant, emotionally taxing imagery that viewers have come to expect. But when Medina had finished singing, the judges asked to meet Juliana, and when she was wheeled in, viewers got the full scope of her injuries. Seated in a wheelchair rocking back and forth, her face was partially paralyzed.
After guarded greetings from Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler bent down, embraced her as a father would to a young child and told her that Medina couldn't have done it without her.
"I just heard your fiance sing, and he's so good. You know, because he sings to you all the time. I could tell," he said, then whispered, "That's why he sings so good, because he sings to you."

His story does not tell us but she probably can't feed herself much less go the bathroom by herself which means she is most likely incontinetand has to wear diapers. I am sure someone as stupid as you would have left them in a nursing home a long time ago. Get a life
Youcan just see the love in his eyes when he mentions her. How can someone say he's "exploiting" her when he stuck by her all this time before he finally got the guts to try out for AI? The guy's got heart and he's got a terrific voice. I hope he does really well, so he can continue taking care of her and hopefully she'll continue to heal and improve. God bless them both, and I cried when I heard what Steven Tyler whispered into her ear. So sweet.
Wish Alicia would call me spic to me face, for sure she will end up with no tongue, but that is another matter. She is worthless and not worth of even my pity. For Chris he already proved he is a good guy and even if down the road he moves on, who are we to judge him, he is a young that someone will want to marry and have kids and life a good life, I am sure his girlfriend wants him to be happy, I know if would.
Chris was not exploiting his girlfriend !!! He went there to auditon for a purpose, to get a chance to win and make his fiancee happy. He didn't have any idea that the judges would want to see her. Chris is a great singer and will get better as time goes on, he is really a man to stand by her. That's the true meaning of sickness or death. So get for real and stop trying to ruin things for Chris !!!! Have a heart for the whole situation !!!
I'm sorry some you guys can't see true happiness, love, and devotion. I may be young but I know love when I see it, and that is love. He probobly had no idea for auditioning for American Idol. So he's not useing her he could have left her then but he didn't because he loves her. He probably had not idea that he would show of his fiance. Stop look for the bad things in the world and look for the good.
He has an amazing voice and a heart of gold.I don't think he will ever leave her side and if he wins I only see good things for the both of them. He wil make sure she has the best.

I know a lot of you are wishing a brain injury on Alicia...don't bother. You have to have a brain before it can be injured. Luckily for her, she is probably also immune to a heart attack.
This is exactly what's wrong with the world today. Way too many haters out there. Give this guy a break. Doesn't matter what race he is, he's a human being that is dealing with a horrible tradegy. I can't believe some of these posts out here. You people must have a very sad lonely sorry life to say the things you do. You need help more than he (or his fiance) does.
