Elton John Doesn't Care If His Son Is Gay or Straight

Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish just debuted their newborn son, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, to the world on the cover of Us Weekly. The couple said that "the important thing is that he's healthy and happy and loved" and that neither daddy cares if their little boy grows up to be gay or straight.

"Elton and David are already amazing dads," a friend of the couples tells me. "They want Zach to be happy with whoever he grows up to be. If he wants to go into showbiz or drive a truck, they don't care. They also could care less if their son grows up to fall in love with a man or a woman."

Weighing 7-pounds, 15-ounces, Zachary was born in California via a surrogate. "I think he's getting more handsome by the day," Sir Elton said, joking that babies often "look a bit like Winston Churchill, their faces all scrunched up!"

What the couple probably didn't anticipate was the kind of pushback they're receiving for simply being the Us cover boys.

Scandal broke out Wednesday when a shopper at a Harps supermarket in Mountain View, Ark., spotted a "family shield" over the Elton cover in the checkout aisle. The sign, what you'd find covering a Playboy or Maxim, was there "to protect young Harps shoppers."

After a Twitter user named @jennhudd raised a ruckus, several sites picked it up (including PopEater and Gawker), and the "shield" was removed.

So, we can let our families watch 'Jersey Shore' but not see a picture of Elton, his partner and their beautful baby boy? Very sad.

And that's not all: According to a magazine insider, the Elton issue has sold quite poorly, leaving me to wonder if America is even ready for two men and a baby on a cover.

I'm straight as a rail, but I know that people do not choose who they are attracted to. I don't. And I know of no men who woke up one day deciding to be gay or straight. A man doesn't "CHOOSE" what gender he is aroused by!!!!! And it's even more ridiculous when a MAN says they do! LMAO!... Arousal is inborn and NATURAL to each individual. Yeesh. Can't believe how ignorant people can be.

Pretty sure God says nothing in the old testaments about gay sex or marriage or anything else. Infact, the bible starts talking about men having sex with women right after cain and abel were born. who the heck were they having sex with, eve? If you base it on this then the whole human race is screwed from incest anyways. =)

The problem that I have with Elton John and David Furnish having this child has nothing to do with their being gay but that they are old men. At 62, John is old enough to be this baby's great-grandfather and Furnish, 48, old enough to be the child's grandfather. Bringing a baby into the world that will be raised by 2 old geezers is a pure act of selfishness and vanity. I had my youngest son at 37. I'm 63 and can't imagine having a baby through a surrogate at this age even if I were rich like John. At 48, I wouldn't have had a child either. When my son was in high school, he'd say I should be doing what so and sos mom is doing and I'd have to point out to him that so and sos mom was in her 30s not 50s. The age of a parent does matter no matter how rich you are.

As for those who believe you must have both a mother and father to be raised properly.....BS. My mother died shortly after I was born and my older sister and I were raised by our father. Since he was an only child as was my mother there were no aunties or female cousins to help with the "mother" role and my father never remarried. My sister and I turned out just fine. Both happily married, with children and grandchildren. My father did an excellent job raising us by himself. Our home was filled with laughter and love. The real reason the magazine didn't sell well is simply because people just aren't that interested in Elton John any more.

There are only two words to describe this whole Elton John thing: Discusting and sad!

First off, the word is disgusting, not discusting.

And here are some disgusting people: murderers, rapists, pedophiles, terrorists.

If your definition of disgusting is two guys who love each other and care enough to provide a good home to a child, you need to look within a bit more.

Perhaps YOU are the one who is disgusting. Or discusting, if you will.

Elton and David should not be target anymore than any other gay couple. What the heck, at least he can support this child. Shame on the media and tabloids and any other finger pointer. Look at all the gay couples that are adopting. The one that just came out, cannot think of his name but adopted twins. People leave these guys alone. It is sad in a way , but this is society now, if the child or children are loved and have a stable home, that is what is important. Look at all the non gay couples that bring children into the world and expect the state to support. That is where the fingers should be pointing.
