Farrah Fawcett's low-cut red swimsuit is already part of history for the countless purchasers of the 1976 poster in which it famously appeared, and now the item will be preserved for future generations to see in one of America's most iconic institutions.Fawcett's former partner, Ryan O'Neal, is donating the red-hot number, along with other Fawcett memorabilia, to Washington D.C.'s Smithsonian Museum of American History.
"It's an honor to see Farrah's famous red bathing suit donated to the Smithsonian Institution, celebrating her place in pop culture," said Ryan. "The swimsuit is exactly where it belongs, and I know Farrah is looking down on us today flashing that big smile that we all loved."
"The donation will include the red swimsuit, an original copy of the swimsuit poster, a leather-bound book of Fawcett's personal copies of scripts for the first season of 'Charlie's Angels,' a Fawcett swimsuit jigsaw puzzle, a 'Farrah Phenomenon' 1976 edition of TV Guide, a 'Charlie's Angels' 1976 edition of Time magazine, an original 1977 Farrah Fawcett doll and a 'Farrah's Glamour Center' hairstyling toy," according to the Smithsonian's website.

I am happy you are not forgotten. Loved and missed by some many, like myself. A true angel in heaven

I'm glad Ryan didn't sell it on Ebay to buy some booze and drugs. Honestly, he did the right thing, and Farrah deserves to be remembered as she contributed so much to American pop culture. Good show!

I still have one of those posters still in it's wrapper. I think every guy had that poster on his wall back then. I was all of 13 years old then.

You are thinking of Monica Lewinsky.
You are the ONLY ONE ON THIS SITE TO BRING THIS UP!!
Might I suggest you work off your obvious sexual tension by going outside and shoveling some snow.
It's a cheap form of therapy, which you clearly need.

And BTW, no one looks better in a bathing suit than she does. I've seen all the new stars; they're just mediocre.

That swimsuit and poster must be the most famous in history, and with good reason.

She was such an Icon. She was an Acadmy member and made 8 Motion Pictures; damn to hell the yutz at the Oscars who banned her the Memorial last year (but allowed Michael Jackson to be in it). Farrah was too innocent and kind to be appreciated by the carnivores of Hollywood.

I have a copy of that original poster...in great condition. Anyone got an idea of what one is worth now ? I'd like to put it in the right hands. Shoot (O'yea, we can't say that kind of phrase any longer)- - Send me an email, if you have any knowledge on iconic poster values.

It wasn't the suit, it was the nipple. Then later, we got to see her nude and said, "AHHH! Put the suit back on!"
