Steven Tyler has been acting completely odd on this season of 'American Idol.' So when the producers announced they would make an apology on his behalf, it got us all thinking about things we kind of expect apologies for:1. Tyler's wacky demeanor, hitting on any semi-attractive female auditioner.
2. Tyler's inability to *NOT* sing along with an auditioner.
3. Tyler's uncanny ability to be supportive toward those who audition despite being clearly horrifyingly untalented.
Alas, the entire country was had, as this urgent apology situation turned out to be one big publicity dud.
Watch the apology for yourself and see what we mean. See the video after the jump.

My sentiments exactly. The show has produced exactly ONE top artist during its run (Kelly Clarkson) and that was in season one.
APOLOGY? for what? if any star or show owes anybody any apology-it is CHARLIE SHEEN, for his constatnt disrespect for the fans and life in general-sick of his abuse....A.I. is great this season, i am pleasantly surprised, enjoying every minute of it Jennifer & Steven have been great additions to the show, they are extremely funny & entertaining, i love how Steven breaks out in song-periodically!!! way to go...
I was thinking the same thing Ted. Psst.......get rid of the last name dude.
Um, are you kidding?? One star? Havey you not heard of Carrie Underwood? She has outsold Kelly by several million records. Or, how about Chris Daughtry or Jennifer Hudson? All Grammy winning artists.
I had never seen Steven Tyler perform so although I thought he acted kind of strange I thought that was how he always acted so I just thought another weird guy. He is kind of different but he livens things up a bit and that show sure needs some perking up. Simon we miss you.

Saw the appology posted before the show and thought it was really a joke...specially since Steven said f**k a couple times tonight and once J LO also was bleeped... I like the freshness he brings and it lends to the rapport the judges seemed to have developed...

I think he fell off the stage one to many times.

Steven Tyler has NOTHING to apologize for. He is a freakin riot. I love him, he is the best judge by far and brings a little life and humor to the show. Oh my he gets bleeped? What did you expect? He IS a rock star, DUH

ok, I totally agree, Steven has added the spice back to the show. Yes, I admit I enjoy watching the show, but stopped a few seasons back, it was the same old same old...Thanks Steven and keep on ROCKIN
the show is so much better with him! he's the best part. at least he's human and not cardboard like his panel mate!
He owes no apology!!! STEVEN WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

I have not watched it yet, but why are they saying sorry for him? They aired the audition, they do not show all those auditions so if they thought it might upset people they should not have aired it in the first place.

Since Simon is gone, Tyler is the reason left to watch. Certainly don't watch for Dawg and Princess Poo-Poo...

People need to lighten up. You could tell by the opening of the show, that the apology was probably going to be a joke. Steven Tyler is so much fun on this show this season. I have watched American Idol since the very first episode in season one. Still loving the show.Rock on Steven!!!!!

Oh for Craminy's sake!! Its Steven Tyler..What the f*ck did anyone think they were getting when they signed him up? Thats like asking a lion to act like a housecat...Steven Tyler is who he is, a wild child. As for him "singing along" what the hell do they expect? He IS a singer after all. I do recall ALL THREE judges oversinging one guy who was singing. Big deal. Go to a concert and see how many people in the audience sing along. Idol has regained some equilibrium by bringing J-Lo and Steven aboard. If you don't like Steven's antics change the channel.

We have really enjoyed Steven Tyler he has brought new life back to the show. After watching the show last night he seemed a lot more reserved in his actions. The producers need to leave a good thing alone stop messing with a formula that works. If Idol want's to apologize for anything then they should apologize for having Kara DioGuardi as a judge that was boring, No thats not the word mind numbing is a better description.
