Report: Halle Berry Says Nahla Was 'Traumatized' After Visiting Gabriel Aubry

The nasty details of the custody battle between Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry went public this week, but sources tell PEOPLE things really started going downhill around the holidays.

Berry, 44, reportedly became alarmed when the couple's 2-year-old daughter Nahla became hysterical when Aubrey, 34, came to pick her up for a visit a few days before Christmas. A source said Nahla "was crying and kicking and screaming. She was hanging onto her mother's legs so she didn't have to go."

The source continued to tell PEOPLE that when the 'Monsters Ball' actress tried to calm down her daughter, Aubry "got Nahla and forced her into the car." Berry was extremely upset by the incident, and sources close to the Academy Award winner claim similar incidents have occurred since then, including one occasion where Nahla seemed "traumatized" after spending time with her father.

Berry has spoken out about having "serious concerns for her daughter's well-being while in the care of her father for any extended period of time and is prepared to take all necessary steps to protect her." Contrarily, Aubry has claimed that Berry is the one with the temper, and supposedly has a handful of voice mails, e-mails and text messages displaying fits of rage and name calling by the actress.

This vicious public battle is a far cry from the initially amicable split the couple had in April 2010. In the September issue of Vogue, Berry went so far as to say, "We have always been friends, we're still friends, we love each other very much, and we both share the love of our lives. And we are both 100 percent committed to being the best parents we can be. And while it was not a love connection for us, he was absolutely the right person to have this child with because she is going to have an amazing father."

Back then, the actress added that she and Aubry would "always do what is right for her and put her first. And she will see as she grows that we have a lot of love for each other."

Berry is taking the custody battle seriously. She dropped out of the upcoming film 'New Year's Eve' (the thematic follow up to 'Valentine's Day') in order to be present for all upcoming court appearances.

Before Audry consider even getting joint custody maybe he should hit Maury up because that baby is B-L-A-C-K. I know black is a dominate gene but Halle is half white and he is white. That baby should at least be lighter than Halle, but she's not. She is darker than both of them. Damn, when my daughter was born that age she was lighter than this child and both me and my wife is black. That's a black man's baby. Halle knows where the good meat is

Let Halle raise that kid Aubry. What the hell do you know about raising a little black child? The baby is not white at all. She looks like my neighbors children and they are without a doubt, black. Move on Aubry. If you want a white child you need to get with a white woman. You know how easily white can be wiped out of a picture. White is a weak color and once white is mixed with any other color including yellow, it is doomed. That's how entire races are wiped out.

Halle Berry has a long, long history of relationships that when they're over, she routinely characterizes them as having been abusive, or that they were sexual addicts, and now, with this one, that he was a racist or abuses their daughter. Aside from the men she chooses, I think she has serious issues. Such a shame she had a child that will now have to put up with her parents being so brutal with one another. Very sick.

I am so over Halle and all her men problems. She needs to look within to see that the problem starts with her. The man is the baby's father and should get 50% custody. She goes from one good-looking man to the next maybe she should give dating a break and look for substance not looks in her next boyfriend!

Sorry but when you are a mom & work as much as Halle does there really isn't alot of time for another relationship. Her main concern should be that little girl. There will be plenty of time for relationships when the child is older. Right now take a break. Look for quality Halle. Looks are only good in a picture frame on the wall.

Children respond to their parents vibes. Halle has issues and so does Aubry. The toddler is only doing what they do. Both of them should consider how their behavior is affecting the child. I do agree with those who say: That child does not appear to be a child of someone, who is White. I mean, Halle is bi-racial, the father is Canadian White... The baby just doesn't look like she has much of her father's genes, at this time. Anyway, Halle should have gone to a Sperm Bank. It seems, she just can't get it right, as far as men are concerned. They should have joint custody... I hope they can resolve this in private.
