Jane Velez-Mitchell, the host of HLN's 'Issues,' argues in her new book that Americans are being lured into addiction and getting hooked on everything from prescription meds, to fast food and reality television. Jane wants to tackle cultural addictions and promises to shine a light on the villains that would profit off our misery.

She tells me that in 'Addict Nation,' "I've got a blueprint for change, but first we must see what is really going on."

In a particularly interesting section, Jane devotes a whole chapter on the hot-button issue of overpopulation in the world. The "out" lesbian, animal protection advocate, vegan and recovering alcoholic with over 15 years of sobriety, wonders boldly if homosexuality is nature's way of "providing balance" and encourages the adoption of the parentless.
