Jane Velez-Mitchell, the host of HLN's 'Issues,' argues in her new book that Americans are being lured into addiction and getting hooked on everything from prescription meds, to fast food and reality television. Jane wants to tackle cultural addictions and promises to shine a light on the villains that would profit off our misery. She tells me that in 'Addict Nation,' "I've got a blueprint for change, but first we must see what is really going on."
In a particularly interesting section, Jane devotes a whole chapter on the hot-button issue of overpopulation in the world. The "out" lesbian, animal protection advocate, vegan and recovering alcoholic with over 15 years of sobriety, wonders boldly if homosexuality is nature's way of "providing balance" and encourages the adoption of the parentless.

I agree Jane. No one has the courage to say anything about the breeders. All you see are pregnant women pulling two or three babies behine. It is utterly sickening.
Stop breeding now!!!! Save the planet!!!!!

jane is utterly sickening,as is nancy grace.
I couldn't agree more. China is doing something right.
JANE IS REFERRING TO THE OVERPOPULATION OF PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT WHITE (esp.blacks, hispanics) - SHES NOT FOOLING ANYONE
There is birth control for control not homosexuality.

She is referring to "mother nature" not a chemically produced pill, thus homosexuality = mother nature a pill = chemically produced. That was her point.

Poor Jane is as silly as a sh--t house rat. Thought she night have had her act together guess not. Yes her pal Nancy hang them now and have a trial later Grace is also silly as a bed bug.
CNN seems to be a magnet for nut cases. They need to get their act together too.

She's lucky she got this article. I and many others would not have even thought she had a book out. She is just like Nancy Grace, screaming and ranting at her guests, even the one's who's side she is on, so unprofessional. Add some booze and swear words and between the two shows it's just another night out at the "Jersey Shore".

Nancy Grace is eaten up with self absorbtion & ego. I can't understand how she keeps enough viewers to stay on. I noticed that she is off half the time to stay with her kids. She thinks no one has ever had children but her....What a b***h !

Jane is really messed up in the head!!! First too many children are not being born...too many power hungry, ignorant, stupid, greedy people exist! The source of troubles is not the birthrate...there is more than enough food supplied on this planet, enough room for everyone to have a home, enough dollars wasted to clean house, etc for every Person born, Mother Nature saw to it thats why they were born in the first place...Man's law is what causes trouble..and greedy selfish individuals who pay for the easy way out!..The "snakes" who control the "secrets of the world" already have a Plan B...that's why so many rehabs fail "they" planned it so people can self-destruct and make their job easier...I think Jane is one of the "snakes" foot-soldiers...SHAME ON YOU!

I AGREE!!! I bet that everyone that thinks she is wrong is contributing to the overpopulation problem!! If "our" taxes did not go to the people that don't want to work to feed their kids I bet they would not have so many! There are people that do the best they can and I appreciate that, but the ones that sit around, live off welfare, spend money on cigs and beer, THOSE are the ones that need to be spayed and neutered!

Welfare was abolished long ago...remember
I could not agree more. I was at the grocery store the other day and watched a woman with several kids pay for her groceries with her EBT (food stamps) card. Then in CASH she bought 2 cartons of cigs and a bottle of Vodka. I was like WTF is wrong with this situation.
To make it worse I saw her in the parking lot and she was climbing into a car that was worth twice what mine is....AND I WORK.
Welfare is alive and well.
Good for Jane!!!
She's courageous and intelligent.
I never had children because I know what a huge responsibility they are. Yet people who can't manage their own lives are bringing child after child into this world.
Unwanted children are abused and neglected children. No one has any right to bring another life into this world if they can't provide everything that child needs financially and emotionally.
And it makes me very sad to see people who DO have the means to care for a child conceiving their own rather than caring for an unwanted life that is already born. Several of my "Christian" nephews who adamantaly oppose abortion went on to bring 13 additional children into this world but have never adopted or fostered a single unwanted child.
Jane Valez- Mitchell has my highest respect for speaking out and telling some unpopular truths.

Seriously? Your friends are less Christian because they didn't adopt? Adoption is hard, expensive, and is NOT the solution for everyone. Do I wish more people would adopt? Yes, I do. But to say that someone is less of a Christian because they had biological children is asinine.
did anyone ever notice that on tv her hairdo is very similar to the movie joe dirt.
