Maria Schneider, who at age 19 starred opposite Marlon Brando in Bernardo Bertolucci's controversial 'Last Tango in Paris,' passed away in France after a battle with cancer. The 58-year-old actress, who played Brando's soon-to-be-married lover, Jeanne, in the 1972 film, was living in Paris at the time of her death, PEOPLE reports.
Although it was her most recognizable role, Schneider said that she struggled with the part both during and after the film's production. "I was too young to know better. Marlon later said that he felt manipulated, and he was Marlon Brando, so you can imagine how I felt," she told the Daily Mail. "People thought I was like the girl in the movie, but that wasn't me."

Sad, What a humble human being. R/I.P/
Ms. Anniston and Diaz should take a cue.

From one of the artist spectrum to the other, we could all learn a great lesson here. A wonderful very different film for the time. Both she and Brando were spectacular...
she looks like Tracy Ullman.
last sentence should have read: "i am not intereetd in those self absorbed hollyweird losers".

I saw Last Tango in Copenhagen, Denmark when I was traveling through Europe as a young 22 year old American fresh out of college. I took a Danish girl I had met on a date to see it, and I wound up staying with her for a few weeks. I am sure the film had something to do with her inviting me into her home. Thank you Maria and Marlon. Hope you meet up in heaven.

I tried to watch the entire movie, but it was rather lame. All the hot stuff was rather old news by the time I saw it. I guess I should've stuck it out until that butter scene. Now I will wonder what they did with it. Please, don't tell me. I get the idea the sheets got greasy. Yuck.
