Howard Stern Apologizes to David Letterman on TV, Calls Jay Leno 'Horrible'

Howard Stern has made a career out of saying whatever he wants and making no apologies. Last night, his conscience got the better of him when it came to David Letterman. TV Squad writes that on the 'Late Show,' Stern made a genuine apology to Letterman for something that happened many years ago.

Early in both of their entertainment careers, Letterman used to call Stern at home. Stern would then talk about those conversations on his radio show, which upset Letterman at the time and led to the phone calls stopping.

"I really want to apologize to you for doing that," Stern said sincerely. "And if you should call me again, I would not reveal what you said." See it here:

The radio host did take issue with Letterman, however, for the infamous Super Bowl ad he did a few years back with Jay Leno. "I never understood it," he said.

"Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time, and people sort of responded favorably to it," Letterman explained.

"I didn't like it," Stern said. At an earlier point in the interview, he'd made his thoughts on Leno very clear.

"You know, as well as everyone in this room," he said to Letterman. "Jay [Leno] is horrible. Right?" Letterman only laughed in response. It seems this feud between the two late night hosts isn't going to die down any time soon, even if Letterman and Leno choose not to actively participate in it.

The comedy specialists Splitsider report Letterman told Stern he would only continue with 'Late Night' for another two years.

i saw the interview. he & dave (who needs to retire) should have gotten a room. their both yesterdays news.

Bingo!! If Stern wants to see "Horrible"....look in the mirror. This is a 60 year old trying to look 25 and not doing it very well. His stuff was tiresome 30 years ago and it hasn't changed. He relies on shock value instead of quality material. I'd take Leno over any of them any day. The only one better than Leno was Carson. The rest eat dust.

Stern ALWAYS has an axe to grind and he does it in the most cowardly way. Both he AND Letterman are insecure, nasty, mean-spirited men. They need to both pull a "regis" lol.

HE CONTINUALLY TALKED GARBAGE ABOUT BILL O'REILLY AND BILL DISMISSED HIM BY NOT ANSWERING HIM.
THE RATINGS TOOK CARE OF THAT OTHER SAS SACK AND THEN HE GOT FIRED.
STERN SHOULD DEAL WITH HIS OWN GARBAGE AND THAT UGLY MUG OF HIS.

What a bunch of HATERS! Howard Stern is THE BEST. His show is still hilarious. And he is a ratings topper EVERY TIME. Get a life...stop hating. You must have something else better to do.

Hey lets not forget Jack Parr my mom loved him. She raised myself and my sister and brother on her own, and still stayed up to watch him and Johnny every nite then off to work at 7 am.

Looks like David is booking people to tear down Leno. I guess it's a bid at ratings. Also, if Stern is apologizing to David on his show today, does that mean he'll be apologizing to Leno tomorrow? What a bunch of slime.
