MTV Passes on Lauren Conrad's New Reality Show
Lauren Conrad's name may have once meant reality gold for MTV, the network that brought the starlet into the public eye on 'Laguna Beach' and 'The Hills,' but it seems she's lost her Midas touch.
EW.com reports that MTV has decided not to pick up Conrad's latest reality project, which chronicled her post-'Hills' life.
"She did do a pilot. There were talks about whether we could somehow manage to put together a special based on that footage but that's also a big question mark based on her interest in that and the finances," says MTV's EVP, head of programming, David Janollari. "We decided not to go ahead with the show."
Conrad released a statement telling a different story: "We sold a show to MTV, filmed it and are really proud of the final result. MTV felt the subject matter was too high brow for their audience and offered me the opportunity to change the show by incorporating more of my personal life. We agreed going into the project that this show would be an aspirational one, focusing on my career and my goals and not my personal relationships. We delivered the show that we sold and are sorry MTV didn't feel their viewers were savvy enough to appreciate it."
Despite their decision, Janollari says, "We love her! We would love her on our network! ... It was a great attempt but it just didn't feel like a perfect fit for us now."
While Conrad won't be returning to the small screen on MTV, she has plenty on her plate already, including a fashion line, a successful career as an author and a number of TV guest appearances, including a stint as a
guest judge on 'America's Next Top Model.'

Yes, MTV doesn't want to show a young lady that has MADE something of herself.
They would rather show these 16 year olds that get knocked up and raise screwed up kids.
They would rather show people that are failures.

I agree- My daughter 31 has been watching her for years and got me hooked.(70) Lauren is gracious, fun and has learned a lot over the years, the result is good decisions & judgment. Too bad MTV, you have some executives (newer or older) making poor decisions. You might want to reevaluate.
She needs to start getting naked in movies.
Must not be raunchy enough to meet MTV's less than glorious standards

A show-about-a-show? Ratings are falling, falling,...

MTV probably just said that to her to protect her ego. Nothing about Lauren Conrad is "highbrow".

Good, one less crappy show on tv.

Lauren Conrad was never the real star of ANY of those shows: Laguna Beach, The Hills. Kristin Cavalleri is better looking and have personality, Audrina Patridge looks BETTER THAN ALL OF THEM and maybe thats why Lauren, Lo(true yawn) teamed up against her on the show and used Justin-Bobby as an excuse. Lauren is tired, keep writing those lame books that derive from your time on those shows. Designer? didn't that hobby turn to a non-seeling disaster? That's why she pulled her line out the first time?

They noo-doubt made their decision based on money, because they sure don't have any moral standards to use! Just because the U.K. has hit bottom for indecent sleaze doesn't mean we (the U.S.) must follow suit!
