She is a professional and when you are getting paid what she got paid, you don't make mistakes. I sing at events and weddings and such have never gotten anything wrong. It's called rehearsal and when you do this for a living, it should be second nature to you. I bet she doesn't flub the lyrics of the songs she does in concert. Why don't they just get some high school kid or somebody who woud love to do it, can sing, and to whom the song has some meaning. The national anthem should be sung with pride and patriotism, not "performed". I really can't buy into these pop stars who scream everything they sing, or do their "version" of the national anthem.
Why do they always have to jazz it up. Sing it like it should be sung. I'll bet Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, Faith hill or Dolly Parton would have been better. I hate that wobble noise she made.
Who cares? Seriously. With all of the ACTUAL problems that Americans are facing today, does this BS even deserve to be on the news? Where is the news coverage of the horrendous unemployment problems, or the fact that millions of Americans can't get decent health care? Who the hell cares what lyrics she forgot. Does that affect ANYONE'S life? No.
She's too busy yodeling to get the words right. Sing it like it was written, that's one song that needs no interpretation.
In HER life, not YOUR life. Sheesh! Anyway, it's clear it wasn't important to her at all. Is she even an American citizen? I blame the NFL/FOX producers who seem to prefer selecting singers who could care less about America (even though they're rich because of it) and don't mind offending those of us who still love this country. AOL's lead in title seems to imply that few were offended by Christina's destruction of our Anthem.. I would bet that MOST viewers were offended. "Ghetto" is part of the game on the field but do we really need it shoved down our throat the through the entire broadcast?
How is she not a true American? Her origen is of PA.
"We know she has an amazing voice and 99% of the rest of us would be too terrified to even sing."
Amen. Casting the first stone and all that - you don't have to like her performance, but the US National Anthem is one of the most difficult on the planet, and as far as I'm concerned, unless you have the cajones to get up in front of 20 million + people, acapella, keep your criticisms to yourself. Christina may not have been perfect, but she was a big bunch better than I would have been.
Hi
I felt there was nooooo ahhhhh aaaaa stupid drag down like it meant something voice. Why couldnt it just be sung the way it should be. I think it was horrible and someone needs to sing it right.
No,, Why is this? The song should have been buried with its author. It Blows baddddd Use America the Beautiful. Much better song, people actually know the lyrics and the tune. What a concept.I love this , So does My boyfriend .he is almost 11year older than me .i met him via agegapsin gles.c'om a nice place for seeking age le ss love.which gives you a chance to make your life better and open opportunities for you to meet the attractive young girls and treat you like a king. Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends.. Just love it
Does anyone even remember the lyrics to this awful song, or the dog howling octaves? No,, Why is this?I love this , So does My boyfriend .he is almost 11year older than me .i met him via agegapsin gles.c'om a nice place for seeking age le ss love.which gives you a chance to make your life better and open opportunities for you to meet the attractive young girls and treat you like a king. i was not as upset with the mistake as i was with the wole pesentation i thought it was a disgrace to treat our national anthem that way
Why do people in this country have such a mob mentality? She made a mistake and graciously owned up to it. I see no need to stone her to death.
That was NOT our National Anthem! Our Anthem is a 3/4 time march. Not a rap song, country song, soul song, etc. It is to be sung with dignity and respect. It was never meant to see how many notes can be crammed into each word.
I didn't really pay any attention to her after the first two or three words. It was so awful by then that I just tuned it out. The only thing worse than her performance was that half time show. That was the worst crap I've ever seen. How can that be called talent. It sounded like a booster section at a high school basketball game.
Totally agree, not the most important performance. Looks like an honest mistake. She took her task seriously, didn't deliberately change the lyrics, like Aerosmith at the Indy 500 a few years ago, and treated the song with respect, not like Roseanne Barr. She also seem apologetic about her mistake. This is not the end of the world or even that serious an issue.
Do we remember who sang the National Anthem at the Super Bowl?
I clearly remember Whitney Houston sing it in Tampa, though I can't remember which super bowl it was, or who played! I am certain I'm not alone.
Whitney Houston...fabulous.
sick
She is a singer, she should do the best she can to make it best she can. But today, who cares. She is just there for the money. She blew it big time, now others will think twice before they have her sing at their event. I guess you are either a pro or a don't care.
the national anthem at any sport event whether football, baseball, auto race should be played instrumentally and NEVER sung again. it is much more pleasant to the ears hearing an instument legthen the song notes for the fighter jet fly by than any singer lengthening the lyric.
