Joan Rivers Reams Christina Aguilera Over Star-Mangled Banner
EXCLUSIVE: Christina Aguilera has pipes of steel, but her memory failed her on Super Bowl Sunday when she
flubbed the ramparts out of the Star-Spangled Banner. With great gaffes come great amounts of criticism, and although the singer has tried to explain herself ("I lost my place"), she couldn't escape the wrath of Joan Rivers.
"How stupid can you get?" Joan asked when I talked to her on Monday. "Christina must have been thinking about food, that's why she forgot the words."
Before the big game, Christina belted out "What so proudly we watched at the twilight's last reaming" instead of "O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming." It was the second time she sang the "What so proudly" line, but before she used the word "gleaming" instead of "reaming."
The 'Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?' star continued using Christina's oft-fluctuating weight to rough up Christina, and offered a line she thought she could have used, "O say can you see ... french fries." Joan snarked that there was an upside to Christina's fluctuating weight. "She's gotten so big," -- here's where you say
how big is she? -- "She looks like she could eat Lady Gaga. Great way to get rid of competition."
After 'The Star-Spangled Banner' wrapped, Aguilera headed backstage where a source told me that the singer was "devastated" by her mistake.
Aguilera addressed her performance in a statement to the press. "I got so caught up in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through."
Joan made her own appearance during the Super Bowl as well. She's the new Go Daddy girl and
starred in their big ad this year. Jillian Michaels and Danica Patrick spend the :30 ad introducing their newest model, but you don't catch a glimse of her face until the last second.
"They were looking for someone stupid to be their new spokesperson," she tells me. "I'm now
Joan.co. It couldn't be any easier."
She added, "Those 2 Go Daddy girls are haters. Jillian kept looking at my body, and I said,
'Oh please, Jillian.'"
Though she's
joked on Twitter that it was actually her 77-year-old body in the ad, the buxom figure reportedly belongs to model Tabitha Taylor, who starred in a popular Go Daddy ad for the 2009 Super Bowl.

Give her a break, it really does not matter in the big picture. I personally did not like the version of it but who cares about a flubbed word. Let anyone else try it with 60,000 fans , 100 million viewers and George Bush flashed over the tv.

She didn't just flub a word, she butchered the whole sentence...I'm just sayin'.

No - you aren't just saying - you are just writing.
Okay Christina did mess up but shy is anyone listening to have a woman who looks like death with a facelift. Joan Rivers needs to crawl back under the rock from where she came 400,000 years ago. And her skanky daughter needs to put a bag over her head. Both are seriously fugly.

Joan is NOT the issue here....it's the pathetic rendition of our National Anthem that's what we're talking here. Christina's sorry singing failed misrably !
like all the so called celebrities, they crow like a bunch of birds, like johnny depp, xtina, all the rest love to make money off our great soil, only in america can u do so,but they love to continue to bash our great country just go on home now you all r done!

Why do they always pick singers like her? Just because they sell CD's doesn't mean they can sing the Anthem. And why do only Americans mess with the Anthem? You never hear anyone trying to put their own spin on the Canadian Anthem. The song is not rap, it's not jazz, it's not rock, so sing it like it was written instead of trying to make it your own. Xtina really sucked, not just forgetting the words, but the entire way she bopped it up was awful. That girl from Glee, who sang America the Beautiful did a wonderful job. Let her do the Anthem next year.

I couldn't have said it better myself--thanks for expressing what many of us feel about how our National Anthem should be sung.
Totally agree
Yet, the players and soldiers didn't even notice.

Don't worry they noticed. They (soldiers) did not react because they were being polite, and at attention. roseann and christina should make an album together called" I CAN F%&K IT UP CAN YOU??"
They weren't going to show that on live TV. But I bet there were a few snickers after it was over
Wrong David! The soldiers and even the players noticed the gaff and were lookiong questioningly at each other.
True, my husband is ex marine, and my son lost his life in Irag, my husband said, leave the girl alone, she is human. He said that 99% of the pple would not have even noticed if not for the big media hype.
xtina should have practiced! SO U SEE they really do make a menice of themselves, fake people!

Give her some credit for an awesome performance of the song!! Are you all so high and mighty and unhuman...never made one mistake in your entire life - right, only small people critize. All in all her song was very moving.

It wasn't an "awesome" performance. Just because she was showing off her vocal "range" (which really isn't all that impressive to begin with) doesn't mean you can butcher the National Anthem. And no, I'm not just talking about the words. Sing the anthem with the original melody. Don't try to spice it up with outlandish notes.
Her screeching sucked!
I'm not a Christina Aguilera fan. I couldn't tell you one song she sings. But, I challenge Joan Rivers (or anyone) to get up in front of huge crowds and sing the national anthem.
And to Joan Rivers -- judge much? She's a hack and always has been. Plus, where in the hell does she get off calling the girl fat? I think the fat is between Joan's ears! (per usual)
