Can a 'Terrified' Christina Pull It Together for a Grammy Comeback?
Christina Aguilera will try to shake off her
disastrous Super Bowl performance with a tribute to Aretha Franklin at Sunday night's Grammy Awards. Sources close to the singer tell me she's still shaken up by her "Star-Mangled Banner" moment and prays this performance will offer her a chance at redemption with fans.
"This is a huge night for Christina so she's leaving nothing to chance," an insider tells me. "All the lyrics to her number will be in a TelePrompter at the event so it will be almost impossible for her to mess up again."
We all know the girl can hit the right notes (what a voice!), but it's good to know she's got a safety net for a little thing called lyrics.
Since her Super Bowl performance, Christina has come under fire from critics suggesting she has been spiraling out of control since she announced her divorce, and there were even some vicious reports that she might have had a few too many drinks before the big game. (Others still have suggested Xtina has been out of sorts since her last studio album, 'Bionic,' failed to sell.)
But as one of her biggest hits makes perfectly clear, Christina is a true "fighter" and will no doubt rebound from this setback.
"You would be a fool to count Christina out," a friend of the singer's tells me. "She has been down before and always found her way back. Sure, she's going through a lot and yes she is terrified, but mark my words, on Sunday when she opens the Grammys, no one will be talking about the Super Bowl anymore. This girl is in the to win it."
Ronn D. Torossian, president & CEO of 5W Public Relations, agrees, telling me, "Christina will recover, this was a mistake, not blatant disrespect. While this was a very high profile flub, in the annals of her career this will be seen as a footnote and not as the headline. This too shall pass, and she will absolutely recover."
After all, everyone is rooting for her. Jared Shapiro, executive editor of Life & Style, says, "'Burlesque,' the Super Bowl and Grammys -- if this is a down year, I can't wait to see her comeback!"

why did she ruin that song like that--the national anthem was mutilated by christina..she should of snag it in a normal, respectful way...that was horrible-not just because she forgot the lyrics, but just the way she went all over the place-it was horrific!!! bad weave(wig)and nobody looks gonn in that shade of lipstick....can anybody say MAKEOVER?

Your spelling and grammar need a makeover.
RE:Amy-u obviously dont text-fingers sometimes have a mind of their own--just typos darling..i am sure readers of popeater can translate a couple typos
Christina is kind of white to sing the blues, ala Michael Bolton, who is better at opera arias.
I'm a veteran and like the anthem sung straight. I blogged that on another site and got only one star, probably because I also noted that Christina's version was 'acceptable.' The Vietnam vet who replied to me that he agreed got 5 stars, perhaps because he included 'Vietnam' in his blog. I served in Germany.
The 'Star Spangled Banner' is a tough song to sing and is mostly about battle, but 'America' uses the British music. Perhaps, the best anthem would be 'America the Beautiful' which is featured on a recording between the seventh inning of baseball games, each team choosing their favorite version. The best I have heard is quite recent, sung by Martina McBride. I wish it was available on one of her CD's. Or, did I miss it?

Sure she can, all she has to do is keep her mouth shut.

I don't care about the fact that Christina goofed on the National Anthem, The fact remains is that she tried to hit high notes on every line. Just sing the anthem normally.

She used to be a wonderful performer. Now karma is getting her good for the way she's treated people like Jordan, Britney & Lady Gaga. Even if so many people still believe she'll bounce back in no time, I see a Mariah-like breakdown ahead for Xtina.

She's too full of herself.

Does ANYone really care?

You betcha.
I am not a fan of Christina A...nor of her music...Why couldn't she sing it normally, why all those hi and low notes? This is the National Anthem, and not American Idol...Bring on some Country singer next year's Super bowl !!!!!Please!!!!

The mistake with the lyrics didn't bother me as much as all of the ridiculous warbling and emoting. I wish these singers would simply respect the song and the moment instead of trying to make the performance all about themselves and their own interpretation.

GOOD POINT!!!!
I don't understand why I keep reading that she botched the lyrics but is still a good singer. That was bloody awful, cringe inducing singing. She was off key and sounded like a man at some points. The entire room where I was at could hardly look at the screen. We didn't notice until reading about it later that she had messed up the words because we were too busy laughing. With a producer around to hit the auto-tune button my cat's butt could be a great pop singer. People need to learn a little bit about music and branch out past what MTV and the Disney Channel tells them to listen to, because it is really bad.

You are so right almost all MTV music sucks I can think of a lot of fairly unknown singers who could sing it SO much better.
Every American should know the National Anthem, I learned it in 1st grade. No excuse, except she is enjoying American money and no respect for the country...BTW..I'm not a fan.

"Xtina"? What's that X supposed to represent? A deletion of Christ in her name? Her name is NOT Xtina, it's CHRISTina, same as Christmas is CHRISTmas, not Xmas. Geez. What a world!

SHE SUCKED AND ALWAYS WILL

Her mistakes aside, I can't figure out why every sporting event has to start with a terrible song about war. We've suffered through countless manglings of the it and I for one would be glad to never have to hear it again. That tradition only started with WWII and should have ended years ago.

The SSB sung as written is without match and is stirring... Why does so many try their own renditions? It's not blues, soul, country, hip-hop or any other bulls**t. Maybe just an instrumental would suffice so the idiots wouldn't abuse it so much...
