Miley Cyrus Talks Bong Video: 'I've Never Claimed to Be Perfect'
The last year has brought its fair share of trouble for
Miley Cyrus, from her
bong-smoking video to her parents'
split, but it seems the 18-year-old pop princess has come out unscathed and with some new perspective on her life.
"I've never, ever claimed to be perfect," the erstwhile Hannah Montana tells
Marie Claire (via
HuffPo). "I mean, since I've started the show, I've always said, 'I'm gonna make mistakes.' I know this. And I think that that is one of the reasons why people related to me. Why kids related to me."
Prior to her turbulent turn into adulthood, Cyrus was no stranger to scandal, somehow finding enough time in her already jam-packed schedule to pose for some allegedly racist pictures; engage in some mildly sexy, PG-13 style phone photography; show the Teen Choice Awards audience a kind of dancing most people need a stack of singles to see and yes, even diss
Jay-Z.
What might have been impossible struggles for another star have seemed to roll off Cyrus' back, showing the world that at the heart of every teen queen is just a teen.
In the new interview, Cyrus opens up about becoming a woman under Hollywood's harsh spotlight, part of which involved her now-famous salvia video.
While the star doesn't fault her peers for doing the same things she's done, she says her videotaped session of tripping was a poor choice considering her high-profile life. "So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for," she says.
What may have truly been the last vestige of Cyrus' childhood, her parents' seemingly rock-solid 18-year-marriage, came crashing down just weeks before Cyrus' 18th birthday.
Despite the myriad personal and professional troubles that have plagued the young star over the course of her career, she remains optimistic about the future, hoping to "spread love and change the world in 2011."
Now how's that for the best of both worlds?

I totally agree! She never did claim to be perfect or to be put on a pedistoole! Let the girl live her life, if parents expect their children's role models to determine how their children should live life and how they should grow up, then maybe they should reevaluate their parental skills and maybe rejoin their children's lives.
Yes she does need to apoligize. She is suposed to be a christian so what she is doing dosent follow Gods rules. She is going agianst God. She needs him now more than ever. Kids can get messed up when they have family problems and even friend problems. She dosent know whats right anymore. Hollywood has screwed her up so bad. She needs to go to church and read the bible for a long time, she needs to get her life back on track. asap
She did not smoke pot!! I feel sorry for all of these kids who have talent and are in a way forced in front of cameras and big crowds of people before they grow up. I hope Miley can get it together and be who she is supposed to be. Her dad really needs to to step in and help her.

bsy while pot can lead to the use of other drugs, you can not overdose on pot. I am not defending it i am not a fan myself. I don't do, don't like to be around it, but i have to be rational regardless of my personal feeling towards it and say you can not overdose on it.
Well, I for one have never tried Pot or any other illegal drug. Furthermore, any drug you take that is not intended for you, you misuse in anyway, or do not take as directed, is harmful to your body.

The difference is, we are not in the public eye, were kids of all ages watch her, she has an image, what she does in the shower no one cares, but when you put it out on front street to be all grown up, thats another issue, no one wants her to read a bible all day...just be someone the kids can look up too...whats wrong with that?
I'm 49, lived through the 60s and 70s, and NEVER touched drugs. That stupidity was for those with weak spines who let their friends push them to do things they knew they shouldn't.
No one has ever overdoesed on marijuana it requires a person to smoke about half their body weight in marijuana, and no one has ever died from smoking it either. NOT TO Mention she smoked salvia not marijuana in that video!

Bsy, Nobody has ever OD'd on pot. You would have to literally smoke 1000's of joints to reach a level of toxicity. Those of you who are so critical of this girl for smoking "pot" or "salvia," say you haven't used drugs, but I doubt that is so. Can any of you say you've never used aspirin, tylenol, nicotine, caffeine? Those are all drugs, all capable of killing you too, unlike pot.
