Miley Cyrus Talks Bong Video: 'I've Never Claimed to Be Perfect'

The last year has brought its fair share of trouble for
Miley Cyrus, from her
bong-smoking video to her parents'
split, but it seems the 18-year-old pop princess has come out unscathed and with some new perspective on her life.
"I've never, ever claimed to be perfect," the erstwhile Hannah Montana tells
Marie Claire (via
HuffPo). "I mean, since I've started the show, I've always said, 'I'm gonna make mistakes.' I know this. And I think that that is one of the reasons why people related to me. Why kids related to me."
Prior to her turbulent turn into adulthood, Cyrus was no stranger to scandal, somehow finding enough time in her already jam-packed schedule to pose for some allegedly racist pictures; engage in some mildly sexy, PG-13 style phone photography; show the Teen Choice Awards audience a kind of dancing most people need a stack of singles to see and yes, even diss
Jay-Z.
What might have been impossible struggles for another star have seemed to roll off Cyrus' back, showing the world that at the heart of every teen queen is just a teen.

In the new interview, Cyrus opens up about becoming a woman under Hollywood's harsh spotlight, part of which involved her now-famous salvia video.
While the star doesn't fault her peers for doing the same things she's done, she says her videotaped session of tripping was a poor choice considering her high-profile life. "So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for," she says.
What may have truly been the last vestige of Cyrus' childhood, her parents' seemingly rock-solid 18-year-marriage, came crashing down just weeks before Cyrus' 18th birthday.
Despite the myriad personal and professional troubles that have plagued the young star over the course of her career, she remains optimistic about the future, hoping to "spread love and change the world in 2011."
Now how's that for the best of both worlds?

You know like people are saying she is only human and a growing one we all do stupid things as teens and we all learn from our mistakes at least I'd like to believe that. You know she isn't the only one that grew up and people had to nit pick on that person look at Brittany then Christina and all the others that grew up in the lime light. They have to grow up eventually and in that process make stupid and sad mistakes. Why do we as people have to judge them for that because we all do it....give her a break!

She seems to be slowly heading towards the Lohan route.

Well, it's simply put that too many people get so involved with an actor or actress in a role that they believe the actor or actress is the same in real life. Miley Cyrus never claimed to be Hanna Montana. She's human and young. She's going to make mistakes in her life and hopefully learn from them. If this is the worst thing that happens, she's probably going to turn out pretty decent.

Maybe she should have been more like her Dad. One hit wonder and fade off into the background. No wonder her parents split. Her Dad is feeding off this attention. Back hills hillbillies!

Why can't people get a life. Who cares what some irrelavert pop singer/actor wears and says. In the big picture they have zero effect on life in teh real world. Too many people live their lives thru those in the limelight. Get a life.

How interesting that people would believe that all this so-called "bad behavior" seems to have "rolled off Miley's back..."
All that has "rolled off" Miley Cyrus has been a HUGE bulk of money paid to an ever-cleansing PR department! They have allowed you to see ONLY what they want you to see. Wake up.

GAAAH! Just because there are frosted flakes doesnt mean its pot lmao... i munch on dry cereal all the time.
Shes only a role model because parents let her be... she is an actress and a singer, nothing more than an entertainer so if you dont like the behavior dont watch!
Everyone makes mistakes, and you're all acting as if its a horrid thing she does because shes in the lime light. Anyone see the pattern of what happens when you keep your head in a celebs buisness... HELLOOOOOO!!! Lindsey Lohan... Brittney Spears... just shut your traps, get a life, and leave miley alone
That is all... LOL

Leave Miley, please. An entertainer we can trash like all the others.
Being female don't make you sexy. Mylie is just a douche bordering on Ho.
She is not ready for the audience she is playing to unless it's lovers of child porn or houchie momma's.
All the love she has been given over the years is wasted on this stuff and she'll be hard pressed to get it back because we have now been shown her true colors and those colors are not what most of our children want to wear.

Mylie Cyrus is just a douche working or exposing her inner Ho.

"I never said I was perfect" is certainly true and also the favorite refuge of a mess-up. I caught an episode or two of her Hannah Montana , under duress, and hope she's a better actress one day and stops mugging for the camera
