In this day of celebrity entourages and PR protection, it's rare for a star to make a false statement. But Hollywood is nowhere near perfect, and every so often its peeps will make an off-color comment or reveal more than they intended to. We keep you informed of the most noteworthy Tinseltown talk with our weekly installment of Quips & Quotes. As much as it pains us to report this (and you've probably already heard), Halle Berry has pulled the race card in her custody battle with now-ex Gabriel Aubry. It's an unexpected twist in what seemed like an amicable split, and it certainly isn't the kind of behavior we expected from one of Hollywood's hottest leading ladies. In other news, we have Russell Brand talking about kissing co-star Jennifer Garner, and Vanessa Hudgens coveting a role in a Tarantino film.

I understand on what Halle Berry is basing her claim that her daughter is black.
President Obama is referred to as the first Afro-American/black President, yet he is actually bi-racial and raised by white grandparents.
Furthermore, in the 80s and 90s (not sure of the current policies) many state run adoption agencies in North America and Europe would not place a bi-racial child with a white family on the grounds that the child had black ancestry and therefore would not fit in a white family. They ignored that the child also had white ancestry.
And let us be honest, the media make in very clear, both in North America and Europe, whenever anyone who has a trace of black ancestry does anything wrong, he/she is Afro-American or black, and the cry is picked up by the caucasion population.
If a bi-racial/Afro-American, black European is successful then he/she is more likely (and this depends on the field in which she/he gains the success) to be referred to as American, Canadian, English, French etc.
Funny that is only playing the race card when a black person tries to use it to his or her advantage...ah the media so one-sided.

"I feel like she's black. I'm black and I'm her mother"
Halle Berry is black? Well I'll be darned.
Just an aside, does Russel Brand ever bathe?

shes bi racial but lets be real here. in the real world shes a black woman. if she were to go in a small city somewhere in Europe do you really think people would actually say shes bi racial ? hell no. look at obama for example when he went to Asia they didn't see him as a bi racial kid, they saw him a black kid thats why they made fun of him. thats why so many bi racial kids claim to be black because they feel like they fit in better with black people.

Halle Berry makes me so angry i could spit. Her ignornance is overwhelming espeically in lieu that she is of mixed race HERSELF. I have always had an issue with exclusively claiming that she is African American merely because that is how she "looks". What if she didnt look like she does but instead looked like her caucasian half??? Would that make her any LESS African American? I too am of mixed race and feel that we are underrepresented as such.... we are expected to pick a side based on how we "look" and whatever stereotype that falls into. I am half caucasian and half First Nations; no matter how i "look" that is what i AM. You cannot deny one half over another or whatever because you look more sterotypcially like one race or the other etc. Her child in theory is 3/4 WHITE because she is half white and her husband full. So there you go. It is about blood line dear, not how you look and which sterotypical category that places you... you should teach your daughter to be PROUD OF WHO SHE AUTHENTICALLY IS ALL PARTS INCLUDED INCLUDING HOW SHE APPEARS!! You dont have to deny one aspect of who you are to be true to another... Just like Halle denying her mom who was her sole support and claiming she was the first African American to win the award blah blah blah. Very very very insulting to her mother i might add that carried her in her caucasian body... just saying.

Amen! Shame on Ms Berry. My kids are biracial and they tell me they think it's stupid to pick a race for themselves...they are biracial... period!
I don't think Halle should play the race card at all. I mean either way you look at it she is just as white as she is black, 50/50. The child in the other hand is more white than she is black. She could have played the money card or even the country card. I am black! And correct people that term biracial children as just black. I mean can't we all just be fair here!

Halle shame on you. Your daughter is more white that black. Do not say stuff to your daughter that is not true. You could tell her when she understands, that she has a little bit of black in her make up....Why paint here with one brush.

Isen't Hally Berry mixed raced?? so she is half black and she had her daughter with a white guy, so her daughter is 75% white. I think her math doen't add up. She is just one of alot of mixed people who piss me off , do they forget they belong to two races?...so annoying.

Do any of you people know how to read. Halle Berry said she believes in the 'one drop' theory which claims that having even only 'one drop' of black/African blood means you are not white.
Rightly or wrongly, she made her position clear.

In a white world it would be better to be Caucasian than noir.
