The 53rd Grammy Awards kicked off with a rousing tribute to soul legend Aretha Franklin with Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride, Florence Welch and Yolanda Adams tackling Franklin's classics.
The ladies kicked things off with a group performance of '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman' before launching into solos of 'Ain't No Way,' 'Until You Come Back to Me,' 'Think,' 'Respect' and 'Spirit in the Dark.' The divas closed with 'Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves.'
A week after botching the national anthem at the Super Bowl, Aguilera brought her A-game and brought the house down with her take on 'Ain't No Way.'
It wasn't a perfect performance though. The singer appeared to take a minor spill near the end of the 'Sisters' performance.

The 'Dirrty' diva wasn't the only big voice on stage. Hudson wowed with her take on 'Respect,' and Welch's wailing on 'Think' earned her some spontaneous mid-performance applause.
Aguilera botched the lyrics to 'The Star-Spangled Banner' before the kickoff of Super Bowl XLV and received widespread criticism for the blunder. The diva later apologized, saying, "I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through."
All appears to have been forgiven. Aguilera, Hudson, McBride, Welch and Adams earned a standing ovation from the Grammy audience.

If redeeming yourself means trying to upstage the other four women onstage, then yes she did.....she is horrible and the biggest poser in music. Jennifer Hudson should take Christina to Weight Watchers and maybe get her body back............
Vinny, when you get up in front of that many people and pull it off, then you can talk. At least she didn't lip synch. I think it could happen to anyone under pressure, professional or not.
Christina did Great! Her voice was Fantastic, I heard every word and her voice rose to the stars. There is no better female voice in Music today, especially with her range. Go Girl! You are Great!
Xtina is the biggest fake in the music industry. Her entire career is based on stealing the R & B culture/ music. She is a parrot and every woman on stage with her blew this FRAUD off the stage! If they wanted true, really great blue-eyed Soul singers they should have chosen Joss Stone, Adele, Duffy even drunk old Amy Winehouse is better than Xtina!
I'm just glad to see that she appears to have ditched the horrible hairdresser that made her look so bad at the Superbowl. I swear that hair looked like a halloween wig - cheap and poorly made because, hey, it only has to last one night. Tonight she had a real hairdo that actually looked like hair.
Frankly, I was more put off by her hair at the superbowl than her flubbing the lyrics. She at least tried to sing the song.
You must be blind...her hair looked like a wig...all she did was scream... that entire group was an insult to Aretha...who has soul when she sings...I was so happy to switch to family guy where i could hear some real music and listen to people who could carry a tune...no one at the grammy's could. there was a whole lot of screaming and posing goin on... Ugh...they all looked like they were going to a haloween party.
Ok, Christina had a bad Super Bowl. But, she nailed the Aretha tribute just like the others did. For all you who like to take to the forums to critisize, my question is why do you watch? The tribute to Aretha Franklin, the true Queen of Soul was the best part of the Grammys. They all did a fantastic job.

Christina is a Legend. Owned that stage, owned that performance, shined more even with 4 other girls around her.

Richard - Really? You need to lay off the sauce!
They were all great...but i think Yolanda...got the checkered flag....even from Aretha....Who particularly like her performance.
I'm sorry but I think it was terrible--oversinging and screaming.
And the growling--Aretha puts soul in her voice.

And then she fell. LOL. I don't think that voice is an attractive one at all.

Xtina is nothing but a drunk with Rickets. She does not have an original bone in her body I hate people who base their careers on theft.
