Guess whose business is on track to make more than $1 billion in revenue this year? Yep, that's billion with a B. It's none other than Jessica Simpson. Sure, she thought buffalo wings were made out of buffalo and Chicken of the Sea was actually chicken. But this sassy southern singer is proving that she's got more smarts than people thought -- and laughing all the way to the bank.

In New York's Magazine's Spring Fashion issue, the stylish blonde admits she's just as surprised as anyone that her Jessica Simpson Collection is such a smashing success. "I never thought I'd be some fashion mogul!" she exclaimed.

Perhaps the reason her line is so successful is how accessible it is. With so many other celebrity lines focused on producing clothes that they like and would wear (see: Sarah Jessica Parker), Simpson thought bigger and more mass appeal.

"We try not to set trends, but you need your trending pieces in every delivery. But those go fast: What you really need is your basics for every type of person. When it comes to other celebrity brands, I think a lot of people do a great job, but it can't be all about them. Everybody doesn't want to just look like the celebrity, because they can't. They just want one element of that style," she reveals.
