CBS reporter Lara Logan was surrounded, beaten and sexually assaulted after being separated from her team in the midst of Egyptian protests last Friday.CBS News released a statement that on Feb. 11, shortly after Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down from power, "chief foreign correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a '60 Minutes' story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy. In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers."
Logan was able to rejoin her team and return to the U.S. She was recovering in a hospital on Feb. 15.

I want everyone to know that it's horrible that this happened. But, when are United States citizens going to learn that the people of the Middle East have been fighting for the sake of fighting forever, it's not going to change. Let them go.

Why would anybody including journalist go back during the unrest when the american gouvernment told it's citizens to get out.She knew of the dangers of her job and decided to ignore them for selfish reasons.
It's such a male chauvinistic society.
All the men that did that to her deserved to be raped by other men and so how they like it. I wish her and her family strength through this.

Where were her counterparts?? Where was the group of MEN that she was WITH??? I know they were separated from each other, but why did a group of WOMEN need to help her?? Of course no mention of the loser guys she was with that left her.

You can change ignorance..it just takes a very long time. Let's not let the example of this woman scare us from moving forward and promoting change in a male dominated, ignorant society.

This is horrible, however, this woman loves to live on the 'edge' as she put it. She was also boasting she goes places others 'can't'. Putting oneself in harms way is poor judgment. She is the mother of two small children. I would imagine now she will not go to a country, which has no respect for women, during a coo.

i lived there and know them well - they are animals and will stay that way for centuries

If this stuff doesn't demonstrate that the USA is the best place in the world, nothing will. An here we are allowing these very same people to use our Constitution against us to spread their vile hate here in the USA. Did any of them speak out against 9/11, but they want to build one of their ..... near the site of 9/11. They don't respect us, they don't respect our culture. They are taking advantage of our generous country to set up their infiltration, with the ultimate goal of destroying us.

Yeah good thing nothing like that ever happens here, right? Like the
Richmond High School girl who was raped by 5 guys while a dozen others watched... or when that 11 year old girl was raped by 10-20 guys in a trailer in Texas... or when women had their clothes ripped off and were groped during the Mardi Gras in Seattle in 2001. Good thing Americans NEVER act like animals...
MANY, many Muslims spoke out against 9/11.
My thoughts and prayers are with Ms. Logan during this very painful time and what should be a private time to boot. Shame on CBS for reporting the very "personal" attack that happened to Ms. Logan. I am sure had they just simply said she was "physically attacked", that would have been more than sufficient. Again, my thoughts are with Ms. Logan. Good luck to you and may you recover very soon.

Putting herself amidst a crowd of Egyptian men is like putting steak in front of a lion. It's sad that this is the case but women and children are naturally vulnerable. Men will use any excuse to rape, frakkin' animals.

First let me say, this is awful and shouldn't have happen. I wish her well. Next......................................when you send woman into an area with so much frenzy, you are pretty much sending them into a war zone. Many times on TV I say why are they even there, men also. Someone wise once told me IF YOU DON'T LOOK FOR TROUBLE YOU WON'T FIND IT. I blame her boss and she should have known better. This must stop, it is not the first and won't be the last either sex.

You see a hitcher hiker on the street. Young woman. She gets into the car, she gets raped. She pretty much asked for it by getting into a car with a stranger. I feel very bad for her, but she should not have been there, she just shouldn't have. Reporter or not, certain times call for certain different rules. I know it sounds harsh, but look at the way they whoop it up in the streets and seem like animals. They call the US bad, heck no. God Bless, and don't do it again. Job or not, life is more precious.

It might not have been a good idea for her to be over there. I know I wouldn't have been. I'm not heading to any of those maniac countries that hate Americans, but she still didn't deserve the terrible thing that happened to her. I feel for her so much. Those people are pure evil.

They got they wanted and are still showing their arses. Its just a brutal sub-human existance.

I do feel really bad for her, i really do. but in my opinion, she was asking for it because i can see in on the television tht it was bad over there. and even Andreson Cooper had got a beating while he was there in eygpt. But i guess that what makes her a true reporter. Hope she has a speedly recover, but i highly doubt with this type of trama.

Just looking at her in the crowd, I would think that she would wear something a little higher on the neck like a turtle neck. When in foreign countries, you have to kind of abide by what the other ladies are wearing if you are a lady. To me, she was a little too open and looking a little too sexy. You cannot entice a bunch of animals where there is no law except the law of the jungle.
