Tim Gunn Bans Snooki and 'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood from 'Project Runway'

"We're not dressing Snooki, we're not doing any of that stuff," Tim Gunn told StyleList about the upcoming season of 'Project Runway' in the American Express Skybox at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Monday.

Despite his show's regular use of guest celebrities, Gunn also said he would refuse to make it work with another MTV reality show star, Amber Portwood of 'Teen Mom.'

"I will throw down the gauntlet," the 57-year-old said defiantly.

Filming of the ninth season hasn't started yet, but the show's mentor has a firm policy about not collaborating with naughty celebrities. "I do nothing that mitigates bad behavior, I want an end to it," he said.

Gunn, who is the chief creative officer of Liz Claiborne, is also working on a book to be released at the end of the year.

"I'm writing a book that is a quasi-history of world fashion. I've decided to do it from the point of view of what's in your closet and the heritage of those items going from the current date, backward," he said.

"The manuscript is due in September. It's exhausting research, but at the same time it's thrilling."

Exhilarating as it may be, Gunn admits that describing the new book project makes it sound a little dry, even to himself. "Talk about a snooze fest," he winked. "Just saying that makes me want to have narcolepsy."

Who in their right mind would want to dress Amber Portwood? If you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, how would dressing her in anything other than her standard dress make her anything but what she is?
