Michael Lohan Admits to Booking Lindsay on 'Letterman'

Lindsay Lohan's career may be in dire need of a jump-start, but contrary to reports, the troubled actress won't be appearing on the small screen any time soon.

CBS announced Tuesday that the 'Mean Girls' star would appear on David Letterman's show to deliver the famous Top Ten list, a claim now being refuted by the network.

CBS reports that they were duped into believing the actress would come on the program by someone claiming to be a member of Lohan's inner circle. Lindsay's father, Michael, has since come forward as the source behind the idea, telling TMZ that he thought up the plan after Letterman made a joke about Lindsay, which reportedly amused the actress.

Although Lindsay claims that she never agreed to appear on Letterman's show, Michael Lohan says that it was his daughter's handlers who stopped the plan from going forward.

"Anything positive that I bring into her life ... [her people] try to nix it."

The network released the following statement regarding the appearance this morning:

"Lindsay Lohan will not be delivering a Top Ten list on Thursday's LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, as had been previously announced. We made a mistake. Someone purporting to be a friend of Lindsay's reached out to the show yesterday, allegedly on her behalf, and booked her to appear. Clearly, this person was not authorized to make commitments on her behalf. We wish Lindsay well, and look forward to having her on the show in the future."

Despite Dina Lohan's assertion that things are "all good" with her daughter, the actress was accused of swiping a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, Calif., boutique shortly after leaving a lengthy rehab stint.

Following Lohan's entry of a not guilty plea, the judge trying the case told the troubled star, "You need to follow the law just like everyone else. You are no different than anyone else, so please don't push your luck. I'm telling you -- things will be different."

Actually you are correct, not withstanding that Lohan and Letterman hang out in the same circle; one steals and lies the other lies and cheats. I thought he got booted off that show when he was caught in bed with some guy?

I wonder about this because everybody knows people are booked through their agents. Of course CBS knows this. Did CBS take the fathers word hat she was booked. They would have known if she was because a deal would have been made with her agent. This sounds strange to me. I think she will appear sometime in the future and they will refer to this in the ad for her appearance on the show. Hype.

It appears to me that both Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan are nothing more than products of their environment. They are both filthy rich, can have practically anything they want, and want to be able to have "everything" they want and desire. Only the truth of the matter is that they no not what they really need in order to have a happy life. You can see here that money cannot buy you happiness, but can take you to where the so called happy people are. Both of these people and many people like them need christiany in their hearts and souls. I can just about guarantee you that they both are missing that in their pathetic lives. Do you know of any charity or any worthwhile cause that either one of them have been involved with in the past or at the moment? I
for one, certainly can't think of any. As for Charlie Sheen, he is just playing himself. That's not a-c-t-i-n-g! What a joke, & what wasted lives.

I can't believe either CBS or the "Tonight" show's director would want Lohan within a mile of them. Letterman would make mincemeat out of her. He can be ruthless.

Lindsay Lohan does NOT deserve to appear on Letterman, so I'm glad to hear it won't happen - although I would quite enjoy Letterman making mincemeat out of her!!

The only place LL deserves to appear is in a 4 by 8 foot cell!!!

I am so tired of Lindsey Lohan, the judge she is like everyone else, I would like to see the average person get away with what she has. As far as Letterman, he is JERK, he has no room to make fun of anyone, just a bitter old man, who can't keep his pants zipped.

Lindsay, you are a beautiful person and deserve better. Hang in there. Look outside yourself for peace; help others struggling, like young kids in hospitals. Maybe you and Aaron Carter can develop an entertaining skit, etc., and cheer up the terminally ill. Love and Good Luck.

I hope she stays clean and sober, it can be a great life.

She looks better because she is in her 20s now. Most women look better in their 20s and 30s.
